It kills me to see children play in floodwaters. All it takes is an open sore on your body for the same thing to happen. May we all learn from this tragedy

@Ruger5:

They SWIM in it, putting their faces under the water. Even for just a moment, that nasty bacteria can get into membranes and start it dirty work. I just don't understand parents letting their kids play in the e-coli infested waters.  I understand you cannot stop teenagers because they will do the opposite of what you tell them, but little children --- parents should still have control to stop them from swimming in the filth. RANT OVER! 4951

@TexasOma: you can stop teenagers by threatening to throw their phone into the flood water. I totally agree why would you let your kids play in that? Are people really that uneducated?

@Summerbreeze:
yes uneducated is putting it nicely

Very sad. Prayers for family. I didn't let my kids help out cleaning houses. I felt like a horrble person but my husband & I helped & we washed lots of clothes for people & donated. So o feel that got to do some volunteer work but I was very hesitate about letting them gut houses w all the bacteria. 4951
