My daughter tells me she and the other KHS students who bus from Creekwood Middle School arrive at Summer Creek before school ends for the SCHS kids.  Every day, she is locked [she said they have some kind of locking gate they use] in the auditorium with assistant principals blocking the only other exit.  I understand that we all have to make sacrifices. My child has to be at CMS at 10:15 every day to get on a bus. She doesn't get home until after 6 pm.  School is 12:30 to 4:30. On top of that, she's being locked in a room like a criminal.Does anyone have any useful insights?  Yes, I understand the goal is to keep the fighting and whatnot between high schools to a minimum, but this is completely unacceptable.  4951

Have you asked the principals if this is actually the case and for a reason? 4951

So how long are they kept in the auditorium?  I'd find a chair near the wall and take a nap. 4951

I don't know that seems like an overreaction.  How big is the room? Is it like a cell? I can see what the intentions are.  That is a lot of kids in a school designed for less students. Have you voiced your concern to the school, the school board, the principal etc?  Maybe the time spent waiting for classes toe begin would be a good time to do homework, read or be proactive and get ready for the rest of the week.Yes, it is hardship on the kids but there seem to be very few alternatives unless you want to home school.

Here's a pic of their hall. Probably why they don't want all the kids in the hall.

@AGWag2370: How is this different from being held outside in the morning before school, which a lot of schools do to keep kids from roaming the halls unattended?

@e, my son told me the same thing. Said they just had to report to the auditorium.  In Elementary school the kids have to report to the cafeteria. They were locked down in there and made to sit on the floor in a line waiting for dismissal.  It was evil I tell you.

@Fallon:

I assume the school has some sort of fire code that can not be breached or they could be in big trouble, elementary schools we sat in our class lines in single file until we could go to class, middle school we could only hang out in a few areas with teachers preventing us to walk the halls before and in HS we were told to wait in common areas before we could start our day and I grew up in Humble ISD so I am unsure how this is different? 4951
