A community of Mustangs from the other side of the country (Medford, Massachusetts) are working together to bring athletic supplies to our very own Kingwood Mustangs.  Emoticon  Medford High School Mustangs Baseball Coach, Mike Nestor, along with the Athletic Director, Bob Maloney, came up with the idea right after Hurricane Harvey hit. They wanted to provide help to student athletes affected by the storm. They first contacted the JJ Watt Foundation to see what school or schools were in dire need of help...They were immediately referred to Kingwood High School, which was destroyed by flooding during Harvey."I contacted Kingwood and was excited when I found out their mascot was the Mustangs," said Medford Public School PIO Lisa Evangelista. "Once I heard their team colors were blue and white, also just like the Medford Mustangs, we knew it was fate that we were going to be assisting them!"  Some of the items that have been donated include athletic equipment and clothing from:  - Riddell Football Equipment (MHS grad Kevin Sollitto works for them)- New Balance (Charlie Pagliarulo, MHS grad and Assistant Softball Coach, works for them)- Tufts University & Universal Screen Studio of Everett donated 30 boxes of unused athletic wear - Medford Police Patrolmen's Association, Medford Firefighters Union, Medford Youth Soccer, Medford Little League, Medford Babe Ruth, Massachusetts Police Patrolmen's Association and the Mustang Mall (Medford Vocational Technical High School's Marketing Program).The community and school also donated several pallets of field chalk and infield conditioner, and there are some financial donations which have been handled by the MHS Asian Club and Wegmans Supermarket. All in all, there are 13 pallets of donations, plus shoulder pads/helmets and 28 boxes of new athletic clothing on their way to Kingwood. Sean O'Brien, President of Teamsters Local 25 (and another MHS grad), committed to transporting the sports equipment. They'll be making the 1,800+ mile trip here next week. The media squad at MHS put together the wicked awesome video below for KHS and our community. Grab a tissue and enjoy! Be sure to either leave a thumbsup on their YouTube channel, send a thank you to them at their FB page here, or you can fill this thread with comments and we'll make sure they see it.  Emoticon

And Mustangs just keep on giving...Two Madison Elementary Mustang (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) fourth-graders wanted to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey, and devised a way the whole school could help. If students brought in at least $2.00 on Friday, they could wear a hat in school all day. The Principal added to the deal by including an extra recess if the donations exceeded $600.00, and it worked! The grand total was $903.00 and an extra recess is scheduled for Friday afternoon.#MustangStrong   4951

@Fallon

When we moved from Boston to Cincinnati my brother was in first grade and his teacher took him all around the school to have him talk, so the other teachers could hear him. She said, "Doesn't he sound just like the president?" Kennedy was in office at the time. Lol 4951
