I assumed this flood would be bad news. Word is it's going to be sold for development. I would seriously sign to invest in saving  it with other property owners. I think with the right management it could turn an ok profit but I'm less concerned about that aspect. Even if it broke even or loss some I would be fine with it. It's one of the last municipal courses around here where anyone can play. The course is also pretty good. Could use some TLC but it has a great layout. Not sure what I would do if it's sold. If there was an option to buy some of the land on it then ok. If not I'm leaving.      4951

More development/concrete is the last thing this area needs! 4951

It would also look completely goofy. These are old homes. So build a bunch of new homes surrounded by old ones all of a sudden? There is some of that going on around here but it's very gradual. . I don't know...hoping a better options develop, Still early. Maybe someone buys the course. It's a good course just needs some minor upgrades.   4951

I would believe that to be true, I have played there for years, even when I did not live over here and its a good track. The greens have always had issues and I heard some interesting ideas on how they thought to improve them ( layer of lava rock!) but I think the owners as well as a lot of the homeowners will be exiting this area. How many losses can you handle and golf is dying ( again) so best to get out and not continue down a path of slow revenue. 4951

The HOA does have millions in the coffers so that might be an option. Buy it, build a new community center and pool since it keeps flooding off of Hamblen. Turn the rest of it into a couple of parks. I would gladly pay higher fees to maintain it. I think most of us here would have no issues paying 3-4X time higher fees.  4951

Course has changed hands a few times even private for a while.  Development has also been pondered for years. 4951

The Atascocita one that closed a while back, what happen with that one? Think I heard it was sold for development. I guess I kinda knew it was going to happen at some point once that one shutdown. Business is not what it was during the heydays and never getting back to those numbers.  4951

Google is my friend:Atascocita course but it took 2 years to make it happen: A group of concerned residents started a Sensible Solution committee
earlier this year in hopes of keeping the property deemed as “golf
course.” Their mission was to prevent the property from being developed
into anything else that would contribute to the decrease in the
homeowners’ property values.

Once the group learned that local resident, Kevin Kilgore, Sr. was
interested in purchasing the country club building in hopes of opening
it as an event facility, they decided to approach him to inquire if he
would be interested in helping them purchase the entire property. 4951

So, if a developer bought the land to build houses, where would he build them? Everyone floods there except for the mound where the clubhouse is located. Even in small floods that area floods. They would have to bring in yards and yards of fill, which would increase the flooding in the surrounding areas. The golf course has helped served as a retention pond during heavy rains and floods.

Surely the flood control district or FEMA will not allow this! 4951

The area does not flood, only next to Hamblen. Rest of it is actually very high ground. 95% or more of the course is fine. People were walking on the course during the flood. Just the club house section flooded. 4951

I've only seen the area next to the clubhouse during floods. It's still a shame that land will be covered with more concrete.  4951

We don't know that yet but certainly a possibility. HOA, residents could have a say in it. 4951

It would be a perfect place to move the community center and the pool. Both are severely damaged with every flood. 4951
