It's going to be a new normal for many many people. The students will learn resilience from this- as will many adults. 4951

I'm not thrilled about it and neither is my kid. But what other choice is there? We will just have to make the best of it. 4951

We are all creating new norms, unfortunately.  Not sure what other options there are for them? 4951

Both of my kids now teach in Houston ISD.  It is very likely that HISD will be merging schools as well until cleanup and repairs are made.  In hearing from their friends in other ISDs in the Houston area, that will be fairly common this year. 4951

Not options for them! We need to realize how monumental this devastation has been, and how wide spread. I find sad how many complain about the no cable, no elec, no internet. Want now! This has been nothing we have had happen here. I am thankful to be here with less loss than others... 4951

It will be quite interesting inasmuch as so many lost their homes -- how many will bee able to find housing in the district -- will we be losing students.  I have been reading the pros and cons on both scenarios -- tough choice.I don't have to deal with this but I would do the best I could to ensure that those who still need to take SATs/ACTs and apply to college have the best learning experience possible. 4951

SCHS is at BW8 and WLHP. How is that 45 minutes away? Are you factoring in rush hour traffic, maybe? 4951

There is a virtual public school called Texas Connections Academy. It is a  Texas public school option that is done from home on a computer. It is a great alternative to regular public school. I know it is not a fit for everyone but thought it might help some people. 4951

It's not optimal but sometimes there is only hard solutions. All you need to do is drive around and see the broken hearts pulling their soppy belongings to the curb, house after house, face after face of shock and awe to realize sometimes we are just lucky to be alive. Blessed to have people who care and that we aren't alone.

This is reality. No, the solutions aren't the optimal idea of an educational setting. kids can learn many things from hard times. Like how to NOT be thinking of yourself all the damn time. They can learn how to ADJUST with a good attitude and not whine like a baby at the first sign of discomfort. Most of these kids have had it pretty darn good. And now they can see life is full of ups and downs, not just ups. 4951
