Most likely they are running boats to rescue. Red Cross should have shelters in the area. 4951

My besties niece moved to houston. Hubby is employed at the medical center. They live in Pearland. They have flooded and lost everything. Cars everything. They are sheltering in the third floor. 911 is not responding. How do I get her and her family? Numbers to call etc?

@e:

There is probably no way to get to them right now. Try to stay in touch with them and most likely our freeways will be passable in a few days, and you can get them from whatever shelter they go to. 4951

What is on their third floor? What supplies do they have access to? If possible, they should pack backpacks with a couple of changes of clothes, anything waterproof, phone chargers, toiletries, etc., so when they do get out, they'll at least have the basics for comfort and survival. 4951

My niece is a 911 operator, they have been glamping on sight for the last 2 days. They are trying but people are calling for the most ridiculous reasons. 4951

@BooBear:  What kinds of things are people calling about? Non-emergency questions/issues.

@HollyHobby:

They are shelter with the neighbors up stairs.

@e:  OK, so they don't have any of their own belongings, it sounds like. Still, everyone there should start to look for "survival" type gear and things that would come in handy at a shelter, or wherever they end up. I wrote a book about emergency evacuations. If they have a Kindle on their smartphone, I can possibly arrange to give it to them for free.

People wanting to know if certain restaurants are open, power outages, stray dogs..just craziness and nothing life threatening. 4951
