Why do you care?  ESPN is a business, and they made a business decision.  Mr. Lee doesn't care, or at least he hasn't said he does, so why do you?  You didn't even know he existed before this.  And you probably didn't even know which game he was going to announce.  Sheesh... 4951

I posted this on the other thread:I actually thought this was satire, especially
as he is Asian American.  After looking it up I feel a little better, but
not much.  He and his producer approached ESPN because he did not want the
online publicity and memes, ESPN agreed switched him to another game.  I
get where the guy is coming from but it seems like cowardice on ESPN's part.
The very fact that he should feel that way about his own name is asinine.
 It's his damn name.   4951

I am soooooo glad that ESPN is doing their part by creating a safe place for me to watch sports on TV.  I'm not sure what would have happened if I were exposed to a person with such an offensive name.  But what about the other 11,517 people in the USA  named Robert Lee? According to HowManyofMe.com , that's how many others share that terrible name.  How can I be protected from them? 4951

I really thought this was fake news. But it appears to be real.  ESPN, made one of their announcers change games. An Asian announcer for ESPN, named Robert Lee, was moved from one game to another, all because of his name. After seeing this, I sincerely hope ESPN's rating tank and fast.  Robert Lee was too controversial of a name to call a game in the south.  A grown adult, working at a network actually made this decision.
@Fallon: Robert Lee was scheduled to be part of a broadcasting team of a game to be played in Charlottesville, Virginia.  Mr. Lee and ESPN agreed that the combination of his name, the location of the game, and the recent events in that town presented an elevated risk for MR. Lee.  In an abundance of caution, he is being reassigned to a game at another location.  It absolutely was an adult decision that is being criticized reflexively. 4951

Robert Lee was "persuaded" because he didn't think it was necessary. ESPN is losing viewers and I'm sure they've lost even more now. 4951

Wait until they air a Cowboys game...that would put them out of business. 4951

Off topic completely, but I heard that they promoted Beth Mowins and she is going to do some NFL games.  While she does keep up with the game, her voice is complete nails on the chalkboard Michigan/Minnesota accent.  When she covered Big 10 football games, I had to turn the sound off.  Sounds like I might be doing that on some NFL ESPN coverage.  4951

@ForeCPA90: Is it cowardice or prudent to protect your agent when your agent requests it and you can easily accommodate the request?  What, if any, liability would ESPN assume by insisting on sending Robert Lee to Charlottesville, Virginia on September 2nd?
