It could be really ugly.  The need to be obliterated.  Hope the US has the capability to launch their middle defense within the 15 minute time frame.  The North Korean leader is like a grade school bully.... 4951

@0207ang: No - North Korea is back in the stone ages, technology-wise.  They can't develop a weapon that could reach our shores.  If they were even to get close to lobbing something as far as Japan, the US could have their fat baby leader taken out prior to any "nuclear" issues.  I am more worried about getting struck by lightning.  My odds are better at winning the lotto than North Korea being able to harm us.

i worry about it...we have two ******* halfwit narcissists playing who's the bigger schoolyard ***....and this kind of belligerent ignorant crap is exactly what brought on ww1. we could end up in a real war on the korean peninsula and there is no telling how that could spread to other areas or how political alliances could enlarge and inflame the situation. in case anyone forgets...In the 1994 version of its annual publication, Service and Casualties in Major Wars and Conflicts, the Pentagon put Korean War battle deaths at 33,652 and "other deaths" meaning deaths in the war zone from illness, accidents and other non-battle causes at 3,262. That yields a total of 36,914. 4951

I have a few friends who have visited North Korea.  Based on details of their trip, there is nothing to worry about.  Fat baby's days are numbered.  If it were China or Russia, there would be cause for concern.  4951

Here's One Take on How War in Korea Would Impact the World EconomyBloombergEnda Curran1 day agoDonald Trump’s warning of ‘fire and fury’ to deal with North Korea has rattled global markets. If war were to break out, the biggest toll would be the humanitarian one. But it would shake the global economy too.An analysis by Capital Economics Ltd. found that the supply and production of everything from smartphones and cars to flat screen televisions would take a significant hit, hurting growth around the world and pushing up prices. That’s because South Korea is embedded in a supply chain that feeds production of electronic appliances. Here are some of the channels:South Korea is the biggest producer of liquid crystal displays—used in televisions and other electronic devices—and accounts for 40 percent of their global production. It’s the second biggest maker of semi-conductors—used in smartphones—with 17 percent of market share. The Asian nation is also one of the world’s biggest car makers and is home to the globe’s three biggest ship builders.“If South Korean production was badly damaged by a war there would be shortages across the world,” economists Gareth Leather and Krystal Tan wrote in a note. “The disruption would last for some time – it takes around two years to build a semi-conductor factory from scratch.”Then there’s the risk to shipping lines. Any conflict would likely gum up major routes along the eastern seaboard of China, the world’s biggest trading nation. “If it became too risky for container ships to enter and exit Chinese ports, it would cause even further disruption to the global economy,” according to Capital Economics. For the U.S. alone the costs could be profound. Federal debt would likely be pushed higher to fund the cost of fighting the war and to pay towards reconstruction costs.  If the U.S. were to spend proportionally the same amount on any reconstruction on the Korean peninsula as it did in Iraq and Afghanistan, national debt would soar by another 30 percent, according to the Capital Economics analysis.Of course, we’re not at the point of conflict and some analysts say the scare is overdone. They point to previous periods of tension that eventually eased. It’s not even clear how any military conflict would play out given the diversity of potential actors involved.Still, even in the absence of military action, heightened tensions are already bad news for North Asian growth, according to Bloomberg Intelligence. “For South Korea, the overhang of uncertainty dents confidence – threatening a blow to investment and hiring. For Japan, a stronger yen hits corporate earnings and the Bank of Japan’s reflation plans. 4951

one dissectiion of the situation posits that, were war come to the korean peninsula, that china would feel compelled to back north korea in order to ensure that the us would not have military on the chinese border. as i stated, you cant tell what will come of a situation when you enter a war. remember  the troops were always going togo kick some *** and be home by christmas in every ******* war. no pone ever thought about planeploads of flagdraped coffins or gold stars on windows or daily funerals of kids and those sent to do the nation's bidding. 4951

I hear you, but it won't come to that.  No way China backs North Korea.  They have already publicly distanced themselves in the UN.  Too much money for China to lose, and they are smarter than that.  North Korea would be on an island, and as soon as Fat Baby is gone, it's over.  4951

I have been wondering if the president's tough talk is to force an issue inside N. Korea, more so than start something.
Sometimes we don't give the president enough credit.
But i could be wrong.
After all as i understand it, most in N. Korea are not aware of outside influences anyway. 4951

you are presupposing that anything is rational when it comes to bluster and militarism. both trump and the korean mushroom have undisciplined mouths, huge egos and fragile tempers. they also are pig******* ignorant of the realities of war. (remember trump avoided the vietnam war by 5 separate deferments for dubious medical reasons, kim was the fat kid of the dictator). and trump of course has bragged about knowimg more than the generals. a good rule of being an executive is to know how much you dont know. they both fail on that test.oh and you do realize that trump's remarks and threats are adlibs that make the more knowledgable  cringe? if you read them without attribution, they could be kimjong un. as i said two ******* halfwits but with nuclear dickmeasuring devices 4951

this is also very similar to the way ww1 started...bluster, nationalism, jingoist fervor and not a grownup in the lot. everyone was going to be home by christmas...The total number of military and civilian casualties in World War I was more than 41 million: there were over 18 milliondeaths and 23 million wounded, ranking it among the deadliest conflicts in human history. The total number of deaths includes about 11 million military personnel and about 7 million civilians. 4951

pig****ing ignorant of the realities of war. (remember trump avoided the
vietnam war by 5 separate deferments for dubious medical reasonsif you are gonna use this as an excuse then obama or bill clinton should not have been commander in chief, either....they did not serve in the military - yet supervised military actions.  presidents rely on the joint chiefs and other military advisers.I guess obama used his massive "community organizer" background and clinton, I dunno, dodging husbands 4951
