Well we had to try it...Very disappointing...the restaurant is advertised as "Mediterranean", however, I was told at the checkout desk it is based on "halal" standard...and that isn't Mediterranean. No wine with our dinner, the food was under seasoned and bland. The interior is also bland, like a empty warehouse. And finally very expensive for what we got. 4951

We didn't care for it, either, although their hummus was very good. The atmosphere sucked -- huge, cavernous building, school cafeteria looking buffet, metal tables and chairs. AND the tab really added up. When we went to pay, I was shocked at the $45 bill.  4951

To get the good stuff.. you have to ask for the lamb shank and/or gyro meat and they will get it from the back. Overall, I really like the place. I don't think it's overpriced and the food is delish.Yes, the building layout sucks, and they clearly skimped on the details, but I feel like the food is fair for what I pay for, and that's all I'm looking at when seeing how many falafels I can fit in my mouth at once... 4951

@JackDaneCPA: Dimassi's took over Zio's, which was a fairly open concept but dark. You can tell they focused their build out money on the buffet line, but they did open it up some and add more light.

If you've never been to Dimassi's and don't know what to expect, it might seem pricey.
The pricing for the weekend is higher than the weekdays, so that needs to be considered.

When we went, it was very clean, the staff was very nice and we enjoyed it.

I have no need for a restaurant where I have to ask "to get the good stuff".We tried the location on Westheimer and found it bland, overpriced, physically dirty, and poorly run. It wasn't "Mediterranean" by any definition. I wondered why they wanted you to pay as you walked in - and should have turned around at that point. Each time food was brought out (twice while we were there) there wasn't enough to share among the diners. Apart from stale flatbread, hummus, picked-over olives and past prime veggies, there was nothing fit to eat. . We literally left hungry and went straight to a Mexican restaurant for dinner. It was a very expensive mistake.   4951
