I can tell some (not all) people that stay home during the day have lost their social skills. If you expect to be waited on before it's your turn go home and order online. Stay home with your entitlement issues instead of ruining other people's days. 4951

@Champagnechola:  I don't understand your connection of people that stay home during the day and customers who feel (falsely) entitled to not wait their turn in line.

I frequently stay home all day and when I go out, I try to make an extra effort to be pleasant to/with others. 4951

@Retired_Engineer: That's why I said some not all. Most people are pleasant, but there's a few that have the demeanor that they came out of a cave.

@Champagnechola:  Let's face it.  When young children grow up with their eyes focused on tablets or smart phones, they never develop the social skills to interact well with others.  It breaks my heart to see a group of youngsters sitting/standing together and they all are staring at their phones instead of talking or interacting with their friends.  I've even seen adults that are constantly checking or texting on their phones.  They would feel lost if you took their phone away.  I couldn't enjoy the last movie I went to in a theater because several adults around me were constantly checking their phones.  That normally wouldn't have bothered me but in a dark theater, it's like they are turning on a flashlight when they check their phone.  Social skills in general are decreasing.

@Retired_Engineer: The theater phone checking is nuts.  I only make a movie or two a year, but when I do, I never check my phone until the movie is over.  People pay good money to watch and don't need my phone lighting up distracting them from the show.

@buffaloglenn:  Same here.  I mute my phone and it stays in my pocket throughout the movie.  It's a simple matter of respect for others.  In addition, the world will not fall apart in the time a movie takes.

I shouldn't directly label it as people that stay home that was wrong of me. I've had people in business professional attire act just as childish. I can safely say that I have never been rude to anyone at a store or restaurant, excluding the kiosk people in the mall. 4951

Not sure I understand this post exactly but I work from home and I order everything online on Amazon. Be careful what you speak of because Amazon is taking over a lot of stores in America and there may not be a job for some people in the future. A customer is a customer and job equals income. I hope we still have shopping malls in the future and storefronts to go to as life would be very boring just sitting at home every single day and ordering on Amazon for the rest of our lives. Sorry for your bad day but you must have had regarding a customer. Hopefully everyday won't be like that. 4951

@Janepoo: Thank you and I definitely agree a lot of retail stores will be gone within the next five years. I can see how the customer today did not believe that the person that I was on the phone with was a customer, because I was on the phone with a regular that I really adore. It's hard to beat online sales, but it really would be boring to order everything online.

I run across a customer here and there that I firmly believe is having a terrible day. Don't take it personally, just offer a smile and a kind word. It's better for you and for them too.  4951

@Champagnechola: Because you would never act that way and can't imagine it. The only way I can deal with it is to think they must be going thru something terrible to act this way. Same with crazy drivers who fly around me... I figure they MUST have an emergency. It's really a way to trick my own mind so I don't get aggravated I guess.

I had someone that was rude then immediately apologized and told me what they were going through and cried. I understand bad days, but there's no excuse for acting like a brat. 4951
