Anyone know a beekeeper or a low cost alternative to an exterminator

Call the non emergency number for the police.  They may have the name of a local bee-keeper.  We had a swarm settle in a small tree back in LA.  He came out and used a modified shop vac to collect the bees.  He didn't charge anything because it gave him enough bees for another hive. 4951

Please do NOT kill the bees; call a professional who can relocate them.  There is a serious ongoing "kill off" of bees worldwide, possibly due to certain pesticides.  Without the bees pollinating the plants we will not have crops.  This is a very serious worldwide problem. 4951

If it's a swarm and they are collecting on a tree, a vehicle bumper, etc., they are just looking for a new place for their hive. They will typically move on within a couple of hours. 4951

@harleysmom:

Can you hear them in your walls? If so, you want to get them out before they put their hive between your outer wall and inner walls. Want to talk about expensive if they get in your walls! 4951

Years ago my neighbor had a bunch show up, the beekeeper was happy to have them and took them for free.

I read an article about beekeepers not wanting them much anymore, I wish I could remember why. It was either disease or because they didn't want the African bees.

If they stick around call Jesse Jones Park, they are a great resource in our area. I had a baby wood duck in my pool and they helped me find a licensed rehab for it. It was against the law for me to care for it. 4951
