Nothing against you boutique, but when are people going to realize that having/getting a pet is a huge commitment? It's an impulse grab for some people and you can't just throw them away when they become inconvenient.
My pets are like my family and I would never rehome one. We're in it for the long haul or I would never have gotten them to begin with. No different than my kids, but sadly people ditch their kids too.
@Marhopper3: That's a good point. I'm going to copy and share this. The Hubs and The Boy are really wanting to get a small dog. I'm trying to strongly discourage the idea since we are gone most of the day, and weekends are extremely busy. I just think it's cruel to get a dog, just because it would be cute to have around in the evenings, then leave it alone the rest of the time. I'm not a fan of crating or closing a dog up during the day (no judgment, just personal preference). The Hubs is also EXTREMELY particular about "his stuff" and I can guarantee that a dog will make chew toys out of things like leather furniture, shoes, and electronics. If one of us worked from home it would be a different story, but right now, it's just not a good match at this time.
