The ever-growing melting pot that is Main Street Kingwood has a new Vietnamese noodle spot opening this weekend, which is aptly named Pholicious! For those not familiar with Pho, here is a little info on it… The Kingwood couple who is opening the Houston area’s first franchise location of Pholicious were kind enough to have me over for an early tasting…And tasty it was. “We honestly got tired of driving so far out of Kingwood to enjoy one of our favorite foods,” said the owners when asked about what prompted them to open the restaurant. “Kingwood was in need of a great Vietnamese place, and Pholicious definitely stood out to us with their recipes and franchise concept.”The place has a cafe-style feel to it, which is very nice. One thing I noticed quickly was their choice to use paper bowls over real bowls. It turns out green is more than just a color for their logo...It's a lifestyle to the Pholicious company - Hence the use of recycled material for their containers. Most of the magic happens right out in the open where you can see it, which I liked. A few of the employees and owners were prepping and cooking as the CEO let me know how proud he was of the owners, this location and Pholicious in general…“Vietnamese food, especially Pho, has become very popular in American cuisine,” said Tony Doan (Pholicious CEO). “We’ve been very successful in malls all over the country, but this is the first time one will be in a shopping center like this. I had to come see it for myself when we got the request…And I was sold immediately. I’m very proud of them (franchise owners), and that they’ve chosen such a perfect location right here in Main Street Kingwood! It’s so exciting!” Tony also let me know that Houston’s second location will be at Memorial City Mall, and he had just come from signing the lease for it. So, if you’re a regular shopper over that way, look for Pholicious to be there in the not too distant future. I had just started to peruse their menu when I was brought a tray of lunch. The Pho Beef bowl smelled absolutely amazing. I tossed the sprouts and greens into the broth, as well as a dollop of sriracha, and then pretended to drop my chopsticks so I could use my fork and really get after it. And it didn’t disappoint! The beef was just right, and I could taste every single fresh ingredient.A couple of drinks were made for me as well. To be completely honest, I’ve never tried any Vietnamese drinks before…I’m usually at a restaurant for the food {shocker}. However, the iced coffee with boba was very good. I’m confident that Pholicious will become a regular beverage stop for a lot of folks.  holicious is set to officially open its doors this Saturday, July 22, at 11AM. The address is 4521 Kingwood Dr #240, and their regular hours will be Mon-Sat 11-9 and Sunday 12-8. Editor's Note: Even though Pholicious will offer a full menu eventually, their grill is not installed yet. This will keep them from making traditional grilled pork, so the few dishes that feature grilled pork will not be available until a week or so after the opening.
