People are saying many bad things about the fireworks as seen from town center this year. I'd like to join them.

Complete fiasco.

Generally having to suffer the afternoon heat, overpriced food and drink, shoddy goods for sale and a loud but amateurish band is offset by the fireworks. This year there were not even fireworks. As I said ...

Complete fiasco.

Two thumbs down and a middle finger up at the organizers! 4951

Oh no, there were fireworks.  They were just located at the country club so if you're not a member (and especially if you're one of the fine folks who drove in from out of town) then you're SOL.Happy 4th of July.  Enjoy getting dumped on by the town's elite. 4951

@gmc2006 I am so sorry that someone forced you to stay there all afternoon. It's a shame that we don't live in a country with freedom that allows citizens to chose how they spend their time and money. Must be incredibly difficult for you. God bless. 4951

What? You do understand that people stayed there to view advertised fireworks don't you?

No one was forced to stay, they wanted to see fireworks on the 4th. 4951

I understand that the fireworks were a disappointment, and that the show didn't go as planned. The organizers put on a great festival for us, and these negative comments are innapropriate and disrespectful. 4951

Exactly. Fireworks were promised. Imotivatefitness ... How do you motivate fitness? By getting folk to chase you after you make some stupid remarks? 4951

It is not inappropriate to expect what was advertised... 4951

Your great organizers advertised fireworks. Not just a festival, but fireworks.

Let me guess, you're one of them. 4951

I heard the fireworks were shot from a different location than previous years and they didn't make it over the tree line. It's was a miscalculation, nothing malicious. I find it discouraging to see such hostility on these forums. Making a statement such as gmc2006 did such as a "a middle finger up!" at the organizers is distasteful and rude. 4951

I am not an organizer, however I know that the men and women who did organize this event spent a lot of time and energy in preparation. These people are our fellow Kingwood citizens and most likely serve as volunteers. They know the firework show wasn't as expected, and I'm sure they are upset about it. What is the purpose to mindlessly bash our neighbors over the internet? 4951

@imotivatefitness: This would have been solved by doing a couple of test shots at any point before the festival today.  This seems like it would be standard procedure if you're changing a routine that has been in place for years.  It's a huge mistake considering how big of a community event this is.  People traveled from out of town, planned their entire day around this, planned their work schedules around this (not everyone gets the 4th off), whole families were there with small children who are a handful even when everything is going right.  It communicates to the attendees that they just don't care about them. And if you want to be snide and say we were free to leave at any time, let me remind you that we are also free to voice our opinions about how we feel.

Out of curiosity, what do you expect to get out of complaining to the news organization's?

It's not as if they are going to redo it, it's not as if you were out anything but time that I assume you spent with your families so it can't be considered a waste. You didnt pay..

I understand it's disappointing. But what can you do but hope they took what went wrong and fix it next year? 4951
