Not sure if we have had a post about this, before, but so many times, I hear about apps that are available and I never knew they were out there! Of course, I love a free app, provided you are not inundated with ads, but I am also not so cheap that if I like an app, I will be more than happy to pay a buck or two or three, to enjoy it ad free.
So I am thinking we should probably specify Droid or iPhone, purpose of the app (discounts, organization, etc.) and what you like/don't like about it.
I have a Droid. Here are some of my favorites:
Textra - texting app. I think I got 1 month free, with advertisements, but after the month I purchased it for a couple of bucks (it's a one time purchase). I love the layout, the fact that you can "pin" a frequent texter to the top of your list, sharing photos is easy, as well as GIFs, scheduled texts (type now, and send the next day, a couple of hours from now, etc.), and my favorite part, audio texts, for those times when you want to send someone a voice text, when words just won't do.
SwiftKey - FREE keyboard app. I just switched over to this not too long ago. It really does have the best predictive text I have ever seen. It's a fairly clean app. What I don't like is their symbols selection might be just a little bit smaller than some of the other apps.
Nova Launcher - desktop control. I first used the free app and it was better than adequate. A couple of months ago, they had a special with a $0.99 one time download so I grabbed that. I love having control of how my desktop looks, and with the addition of adding locks on apps that don't normally come with that option (this is in addition to your home screen lock), it adds extra security to your bank apps, etc.
Copy Me That - this is a FREE app, and I just downloaded it this week. It can keep and organize recipes for you and help you organize your grocery list. You can even organize your grocery list by category, or by store layout. You can tag your recipes and don't ask me how it does it, but if you have a recipe that you got from a blog, it somehow ignores the background story associated with what inspired the blogger's recipe, how their Aunt Suzy will eat three helpings, etc, and you just get the recipe and ingredients, plus it gives you options on the photo to use for the recipe, taken from the page where you obtained the recipe.
MyFitnessPal - I have the FREE version. It is obviously a fitness, calorie tracker app. It keeps you honest, you can scan barcodes when adding foods to your calorie counter, and it seems to have an endless list of food items, but if you run across one that's not in there, you can add it easily enough. It will tell you if you have had too many carbs, sugar or fat for the day, based on your weight loss goals, and super user friendly.
Prisma - FREE app that takes photos and transforms them in various ways, based on what type of photo result you want, such as abstract, cartoon, and it allows you to set the saturation for each type of photo transformation that you choose. I will give you and example. Here is a photo I used the "surf" transformation on, and I will post the actual photo in a subsequent post.
