Thanks for advice everyone. I went up to attic and drip pans were dry, no draining problem. Good thing our upstairs ac is still running well. Gonna have someone come out and take a look tomorrow.

@hangrygirl: Since there is no water in your overflow pan tripping the switch that shuts off your compressor, then it's either the capacitor that starts the compressor (and sometimes the fan too) or the compressor itself. I keep a spare capacitor because you can buy them online for 20 bucks, and my outside units are old. A service company will usually charge a call out fee plus a markup on the capacitor, so anywhere from 150 -250 to replace it, but they will electrically test and see if it is the capacitor or the compressor. Compressor means a new unit depending on the age of the system. Good luck!
