I taught drivers ed to hundreds of kids back in the mid-90's. I put them through hell, they tell me, before I would sign off on their completion of the course. Well yeah. If they were going to share the road with me and my family, they had to be prepared.
In about a 1-year span after I left the area, 4 kids that I taught died due to drunk driving in 2 separate accidents. I can tell you this: they made the decision to D+D. It wasn't their parents.
So when you open your mouth and say that kids will text and drive because their parents do the same, that's just STUPID. The kids know better than to T+D. So do the adults. They just don't care. They are so narcissistic that only their life matters NOW and it can't wait.
We, the parents, should take on much of the responsibility of the behavior of the children today, but not all of it and NOT texting and driving, nor drinking and driving. It really is an individual decision.
Happy Memorial Day!
