I live in Sandcreek.  House built in 1985ish.  Anyone had to replace a similar appliance?  What fit in the opening best and who did you use to install?  I'm guessing there may need to be some cabinet work to get it to fit.  4951

It's a matter of taking a few bolts/screws out. and unplugging. Shouldn't be hard. When replacing just measure inside to inside of cab. I think the appliances are standard. 4951

measure your unit   (now that sounds funny)measure the cabinet both depth and widththe opening on the cabinet  is usually pretty standard . appliances have been designed so you can replace them without it being a remodel. if you can measure the actual opening before shopping for an appliance, you'll be better off. it is easier to not have to cut it out larger or try to fill in the opening to make it smaller  find out which ones fit and research those to choose the one you want. the specs for the installation measurements are included with the basic info on the appliance. 4951

Our built-in microwave (circa 1993) died and I did as recommended above.  I removed the old unit and measured all the dimensions of the opening (as well as distance from the wall and a corner).  I tried on-line to find a microwave with a cover-plate that would fit, but couldn't find one.  Took those to an appliance store and they found a match.  Installing it was easy. The size of your opening may limit how many microwaves will fit, so you may not have many choices. 4951

We replaced ours with a Bosch oven- we had already replaced the microwave. It was a pain as the new microwaves are so much smaller. However- hubs is handy so he redid the wood work- I have a space above the microwave now. Some people could store flat cookie sheets- I use it for rising dough- warm enough from the heated oven and no animals can bother it

ALSO- if you aren't handy with electric- get an electrician to look at it. Ours was wired incorrectly and could've started a major fire. Only the finest craftsman built these houses 🙄 4951

Ours is all one piece too. Oven still works.  Microwave does not! 4951

So easy, go to the appliance shop on Northpark, the one beside the UHaul Rental. It doesn't look like much inside, but it you cannot get better service anywhere.

@Fallon: I've bought a Kitchen Aid fridge and Speed Queen washer and dryer from him.  Also bought a Maytag washer from him a long time ago when he was at Champagne's on KW drive in the SteinMart center.
