The nail tech talked me into it. I'm one week in and it's still good. She said manicure would last 2 weeks, pedicure 1 month. Was pricey though, close to $100 w/tip. Is that pretty typical pricing? 4951

Is gel the same as shellac?

I pay $30 for shellac mani and it lasts 2 -3 weeks and is typically removed due to how much my nails have grown vs bad polish appearance. 4951

They seem to charge you for a pedi plus shellac is an additional fee $25+15 plus $35 shellac nails plus the tip I usually tip $8/each tech. 4951

I started doing shellac on my nails and love it. 2-3 weeks is a good time to change the polish. I get a polish change only and its $25. I don't like someone else picking and filing on my nails and cutting on my cuticles though, so no manicures for me... 4951

I feel like at 3 weeks I'd have a lot grown out.  I definitely need the manicure part.  Dropping my head in shame,  I'm a nail biter, and the gel manicure seems to have helped me stop.  Since it doesn't chip there's nothing to pick at. 4951

@MarT:

I have the same problem with picking and biting at my nails. This has helped so far. 3 weeks is a little too long, but at 2 weeks I feel like I can still go a couple days. Maybe 2.5 weeks is a good time to change polish... 4951

Does anyone know if the place next to the big Kroger uses a UV or LED light for gel? 4951

Kinda pricey, but probably about right. I don't usually do gel, but when I do it's quite a bit more expensive. 4951

Ok, ladies, need help! Haven't had a professional pedicure in forever & have a few extra bucks to spend on one, emphasis on few..

I like this gel/shellac thing ya'll are discussing for a month long wear..

Can you recommend an inexpensive place to get it done? Don't need fingernails, do them myself, just toes..

Thank you in advance for your input! 4951
