Best place to get a new hot water heater with installation? Mine is in the attic and leaking. Fortunately the drain is working. The date on it is 1989 so it has had a good life... 4951

We got ours at Home Depot and they installed... but the original vent didn't meet COH code so it was not as smooth as it could have been.  No complaints about the price or the work though. 4951

Used LesCon for my two replacements. Seemed reasonable (compared to Alpha/Omega) and I am happy with the work. Called one day, installed the next. 4951

@ET: Alpha Omega is good. Used them several times. Lowes or Home Depot. Rheem is better quality. I installed mine, got a Rheem display at Home Depot.  4951

We tried LesCon recently but they couldn't get to our installation as quickly as Alpha Omega. One cold shower was enough for me but the price difference was close enough between the two than to justify a hotel expense.

Be sure when comparing companies that they all are providing equal services. One company didn't mention all the addional expenses like drip pan but with a push, their bid of nearly $400 less became quite comparable to those who included everything necessary in original quote. 4951

Buy the water heater at Lowes and call Cam Contracting to do the install. I'm sure they can knock it out for you. 4951

We used Lescon after the Lowes contractor tried to scam us. They were really terrific & id use them again for any plumbing issue in a heartbeat. 4951

We tried Alpha first as they got the old units up and running again. Got a replacement quote for both which seemed really high. The LesCon quote came in at $1000 less. Two 50 gallon Rheems - gas fired. 4951

Not only is Alpha Omega pricey, nothing was fixed. I wasted a lot of money. 4951

Something I wasn't aware of.....often water heaters of the exact same brand are made with better tanks, valves etc. (contractor grade) when sold through an actual plumbing supply house (Moore Supply, Ferguson, etc).

The premium isn't much either....think 15% vs a big box purchase.

I would have never believed this until comparing the specs myself and learned working as an installer for a friend's plumbing company last year.
