Road bikes are made for the road NOT sidewalks and trails. I have a road bike that cost me 4500.00 and a trail bike that was about 700.00. The road bike does not go on the trail except the stretch between Kings River and Kings Crossing on WLH. Cyclists are considered vehicles by law and must obey all laws ( yea I know some don't) and they are to be treated like a vehicle.
I won't ride McKay bridge anymore- too much debris in the road and too many accidents.
I obey all traffic laws - I have to say I have had more close calls with cars on my trail bike ( like cars turning across the pedestrian lane when I have the right away- guarded intersection) than my road bike. I almost got creamed at Forest Garden yesterday by some moron ignoring the pedestrian light.
My son has been hit 3-4 times along WLH when he has had the ROW.
I know drivers get frustrated- heck I get frustrated when other drivers and other cyclists can't follow the laws- please let's all be patient though- everybody has loved ones 4951
