New here. But thought I'd post this for hopes that maybe the idiot who took it upon herself to comment to my daughter today that she shouldn't be parking In Handicapped parking might read this

My daughter is in her 20s and disabled. She has handicapped plates Some days you might have trouble realizing she is handicapped since most of her disabilities are hidden. Her biggest being with her heartt. She had to go to HEB today to pick up meds and parked in handicapped parking. Couple people gave her disapproving looks which she has gotten used to. One woman choose to tell her she shouldn't be parking there and didn't belong. Obviously she hasn't a clue

It is tough enough that she has all these health issues and probably less than 10 years left on this planet but it doesn't help dealing with people who are clueless. On really bad days she has had to use the scooters at the store but she has had strangers tell her. It's not a toy. So she tries not to but then gets strange looks when she has to sit on the floor and rest.

So next time you see someone who you think doesn't belong. Just realize that you may just not know all the facts! Rant off thanks 4951

I know that that person should not to judge... yet I silently judge. (Sigh)

And you have reminded me of my fault.

That said, people need to mind their own business and keep their mouths shut. Judge, if you must, in your mind. Not your mouth.

I would use a pharmacy drive thru if it was that bad or get the meds shipped. If someone can't walk 60 feet due to their heart they should not be driving at all. Fairly selfish to put the lives of others in danger. But, I'm sure I will be deemed a jerk until the person who deems me one winds up in a wreck or someone they love dies in a wreck due to someone who has heart failure driving with a known severe heart condition an passes out. At that point I will be deemed a jerk again for saying told you.   4951

@beastmode: I'm sure u already know you're an ********. but if she legally has a license she can drive. Maybe she will kill my family and I when we drive, But maybe you will too. it really is a gamble on the roads. The point is shut your mouth if someone has handicap placard it has nothing to do with you

Just because someone can do something legally does not mean they should. I'm also disabled. I do not have disabled plates even though I could. If I had a severe heart condition where I could not walk 50 ft I would not be driving. I happen to value the lives of others like yourself. If I am an ******** for that then guilty as charged.   4951

My wife does get some of her meds shipped to the house and others she has to pick up at the pharmacy because they are cheaper or not offered for home delivery.  She may have to pick up something else while she is there.  Someday's she does much better than others with her condition and you might see her as a young woman with nothing wrong with her as she gets out of her car but you dont see the pain she is going thru from day to day.  To say she should not be driving is pretty stupid without knowing the facts.  There is alot of ways to be disabled that does not affect you driving.  Maybe all the vets that are partially disabled should not be driving as well if we go by your standard. 4951

Maybe they should. I am all for re-evaluation of driving privileges. Especially those with severe heart problems. I just read the laws on it and they are very weak. One can have a heart attack and drive in a week and that's if they even report it.  4951

@beastmode: as you know I have cancer stage 4 and handicapped. I may not be able to walk comfortably that far but that does not mean I can not drive. I know there are days I shouldn't and I don't. Just because a person is sick does not mean they can't drive. Uber is to expensive and being widow I tjank God I can. Its hard . Just my 2 cents from the other side

@beastmode: there are many drivers not diagnosed with clogged arteries. A heart attack can happen at any time. My husband fought heart disease 20 years even had a difibulator. He is gone now but drove all those years fine. Maybe we should let the cardio make that decision.

For the positive comments thank you.  For the negative ones who  feel she shouldn't drive obviously don't know her condition.  I won't go into all the details. It has to do with blood pressure and heart rate.  She can sit and be safe and drive or she wouldn't.  As for using drive thru she does but there are times she has to have talks with the pharmacist plus pick up other things at HEB.  It also has to do with other issue including her neuropathy.  The warmer the temps the more house bound she becomes. Anything above 80 and her condition gets worse.  I don't consider you a jerk Beastmode   If her driving was a risk she wouldn't do it so I do understand your concern. She does have bad days that she can't even go outside.  And have you been to HEB?  Many times it's a lot further than 60 feet to find a parking spot.My point is don't judge handicap parkers because you haven't a clue to why they use it.  It's her legal plate and her right to use. 4951

Bear in mind that a lot of people are ignorant *** hats, like the genius at the grocery store who was upset with me for not giving my young son a sample of the peanut bar he was handing out..... 4951

When you get older, you stop giving a ship what others think. Here's a quote you should all understand:

What others think of me is none of my business.

You can give me dirty looks, that's fine. You can even make comments, too, if you so desire. But the fact remains that people like that aren't in my life for a reason.

Peace out! Peace in da hood!
