Hey everyone. The time has come that we are seriously needing to rehome our full blood vizsla, Wesson. I know I've asked before but now it's it. We've tried several things but he just can't get along with my son and it's a safety concern. He comes with papers, a crate, etc. He is up to date on his shots. He is a good dog, but we are having issues with him and our 2 year old son that have gotten progressively worse. My husband has said it is time for the dog to go. He told me I have 3 days to find him a new home so any help would be much appreciated. He doesn't deserve to go to the pound. He is good with older kids and other dogs. Loves to run and play and cuddle. He is on the smaller side for his breed. He is 5-6, I will have to check his papers. Please call or text Ally 832-510-6020.

And I really don't need any nasty/negative comments. I know it's ****** of me to have to give him up but when the safety of my son is an issue and it's causing marital strife, it's not really a choice so please keep your judgements to yourself.

Can you not separate the two in different areas of the house?  Is there a local V rescue that might have willing adopters? Will the breeder help? 4951

@allymansfield: I hope you find someone to take him.  I know you love your dog and wouldn't do this if you didn't have to.  For anyone who doesn't know @allymansfield makes dog leashs and collars as her side business and set up the last couple pet events at Town Center.  Good Luck.  I wish I could take him but I would be divorced and living on the street when the landlord threw me out.

They won't take him since he currently has a home.

Please make sure you tell whoever takes him that he reacts to kids- it may not just be your son he reacts to.

Good luck- it's going to be tough- we're dealing with an onslaught of puppies that were given at Christmas or Spring puppies born from irresponsible owners who didn't spay or neuter. 4951

There is a Vizsla Rescue of Texas facebook page that should be able to give you info on getting him in it.  Does the dog have to be homeless or in a shelter before they will take him?  That may be the case in a few days if a new home isn't found. 4951

I have reached out to them in the past and they said they will not help me since he is already in a home. 4951

@boxerx3: my guess is that they are short on fosters long on puppies. At least that's the case either the rescue I work with @Lola is the same for y'all right now. One of my foster fails came from the owner dumping him and his room mate at her vet's office. PS NOT a good idea- it happens too frequently and the vets are not home finders. At that time there was a foster for one and room at a kennel we use in emergencies. I got involved seeing a plea for fosters on FB. They were both seniors and would be hard to place. People want puppies- and I imagine this dog will be hard to place also- 5-6 is getting up there when people want puppies- and ESP since he has reacted to her son. Maybe a 1 kid thing or it maybe kids in general. And I could be mistaken but I don't think the dog has been neutered (am I wrong??) which means a rescue would have costs involved- just not a great time of year.

You're so right. It amazes me soooo many people want puppies even tho they are wild with energy, need training and potty training, require so much more time, energy and effort. IMO, a young adult dog is often a wiser choice but people won't think that way. And, puppies are cute. LOL 4951

@TheTruthHurts:
Totally agree and then when cute puppy starts tearing up everything in sight they get turned in or dumped- as is the case with dog #3 in our house. There are days I want to tear my hair out but I keep focusing on what a fine dog he will become. We just lost 2 of a 5 puppy litter because the owner dropped them AND their mother off at the shelter when the pups were less than a week old-Emoticon. Pups just don't have the immune system for that. I'm heart broken for the foster who has worked for 3 weeks to nurse these dogs- hope the other 3 make it.

Anyhow- Good luck Ally- I'm sorry I can't give you any good news- it's just hard
