I think I am finally going to bite the bullet. After having endured about 7 years of the worst, most God awful POS LG front loading washer, I am going to buy a new one. I swear, if LG had a 5 star machine, that others swore by, came with a 90% discount, and came with a goose that laid golden eggs, I would tell them NO! This has to be the worst washing machine I have ever had. The only good thing I can say about it is, it is quiet, and it can handle large loads.
Now, for the bad. It constantly leaves my clothes smelling sour, and the really sucky part is, no matter how many times I smell them and think a particular load didn't come out sour, invariably, a couple of hours into wearing them, the smell starts coming out, and I think it is because my body heat activates it or something; either way, it's usually noticed AFTER I have left home. No, I do not leave loads in overnight, or for more than an hour or two. Yes, I have tried every tub cleaner known to man, and you think it did the job, only to find out a couple of hours after leaving home that you were wrong. Yes, I leave the door open when not in use, which is really annoying, if you ask me. The latest problem is that it is now leaking out from the bottom. Luckily, I have a tile floor in the laundry room, but unfortunately, a blanket that was waiting to be washed, soaked up the leak I didn't know that I had and I can pretty much throw that away, because it is a nasty, moldy mess. No, it is not worth a repair, because it still produces the predominately sour smelling clothes.
So for those of you with uprights (and I will miss the extra work space on top of the washer) what kind would you recommend?
I actually prefer dials to LED/LCD panels (forgot to mention the panel sucks on my LG, and I can't see time on there about 90% of the time).
I don't need a ton of bells and whistles, but a few of them would me nice.
With or without an agitator? For those of your with no agitators in your machine, does it really get the clothes clean?
I need a super big capacity, because I don't like taking blankets and things like that to a laundry mat when I can do them at home.
I want reliability, but would prefer to not have to give up a kidney to pay for a washer.
What kind of bells and whistles do uprights have these days, if any? Okay, go! 4951
