Why are people on this site allowed to post their pets needing new homes to be given away for FREE? Aren't there enough animal advocates on this site that would have the administrator of this site put a stop to that? I just read about a cute little puppy that needs a new home because the poster's daughter works 10 hours a day and has no time for it. They are willing to give the puppy away for free 'to a good home' 😡😡😡 if the puppy is extremely lucky and blessed it will find a new loving home but I am scared it will find itself being abused, used as bait and totally ignored. Why doesn't the owner of this site refuse to let anyone post a pet that will be given away for free!!!! What a disservice to the animals advertised on this site. I took in a relative's pit bull that became too much responsibility for the original owner after they became parents and decided they didn't have time for the dog anymore. He is the most loving, sweet fur baby anyone could ask for and it scares me to think what kind of life he could be living if my hubby and I hadn't taken him in and he had been advertised as 'free to a loving home'. C'mon Kingwood.com, you guys have really disappointed me allowing these kinds of posts.🐶🐱😡😔 4951

Rather see it here than just throw the puppy on the street but I admit those people are not fit to take in a pet and cannot imagine them having kids either for certain they will neglect them. Shame on them 4951

It's that time of year...all the Christmas pets are no longer a novelty.  I agree, there should be a mandatory re-homing fee.  Most sites require that 4951

It's the giving the pet away 'for free' that upsets me. Anyone that cares the least little bit where the dog or cat might end up will charge at least $15-20 dollars for the pet to be re homed. The fact that Kingwood.com allows persons to give their pets away for free on their site is really irresponsible on their part. So so disappointed in Kingwood.com😔😔😔😡😡😡 4951

We got our beloved fur baby on this site seven years ago -- for free. Free doesn't mean there is no discernment. Our vet was checked out, our home was as well.
To be honest, before we found the post on here for her, we had researched other places to get rescues and found some of the application processes arduous -- it wasn't the money that stopped us, the process.
That said, I do understand wanting to ensure the best possible home for a pet and I admire those who invest their time to that cause.

@ Stealth83,  my concern is for the helpless dogs, cats, puppies and kittens that are just handed over to the first person who shows up promising a wonderful life for the advertised pet. There are enough pet advocates and rescue advocates that post on this site that know that advertising a pet to be rehomed for free doesn't always work out to the pet's advantage. I am not concerned at all with what you or anyone else on this site thinks about me alone, my concern is that Kingwood.com allows this practice to continue.  4951

@Beachmama: How does a small fee stop animal abuse?

So charging someone $10-$15 will make it better? Over the years my family, and other people we know have taken in animals that were given away in papers, sites like this and signs in business`. Are there bad people out there, yes of coarse there are. I would hope that the people giving away these pets would not purposely be giving these pets to bad people, but charging someone $10 -$15 or even $25 will not make a difference. 4951

@Beachmama:
What are YOU doing about it!!! Putting your concerns off on the pet advocates and trying to shame us into doing something is not right. You see a problem - be part of the solution instead of posting complaints. Many of us pet advocates are a** deep doing everything we can.

@Gramoda: Then you've paid for the right to abuse it.😂

@Beachmama: This PRIVATELY OWNED website has been around many years. We are all here as the owner's guest. A guest, such as yourself, who just joined 3 months ago has little standing to come here demanding the OWNER change its ways.

As stated before, if you don't like things, be a part of the change, open and operate your own website and tell as many people as you can get to follow you how to live, act and behave.

Knock yourself out, on your OWN site. You have zero standing here to insist or demand anything. 4951

I don't understand what the OP and OP'er is upset about.  If people want/need to get rid of a pet, at least they are finding a new home for them.  The other alternative, which happens way too often, is to simply remove any ID tags and drop them off somewhere.As @saltwaterfisherma stated, how does charging a small, or large, selling fee make sure the pet is going to a good home?I've given away stuff for free on KDC instead of trying to sell it. That's my choice and no one else's business. This sounds like another case of PC where someone is "offended" by the actions of others and expects them to change due to his/her outrage.  To me, it's more of a case of "tough s**t" if you don't like it. 4951

@Retired_Engineer: Guess we better get the safe space and coloring books ready. 4951
