The Harris County PCT 4 Constable's Office has received enough complaints about (and written enough tickets to) speeders along WLH, especially near Creekwood Middle School, that they have placed a deterrent in the form of a speed enforcement trailer along the roadway. The trailer is primarily there to make people aware of their speed, but also to let drivers know that police are watching the area closely. Speeding can be dangerous, especially in a residential area...and it's even more of a risky behavior in a school zone.  4951

I just came from that area. I saw the trailer. It does remind you to slow down. Some of the streets already have some water. Guess it's not over yet. 4951

I sort of view those speed trailers like the fan volume meter at a football game.  It's like they want you to push it and push it and see if the trailer lights up and flashes all crazy! 4951

@buffaloglenn: I think of it that way also...lol.  I try to stay away from them.  I see the one on the feeder by the Ford dealer all the time and thank the heavens that I'm on the highway instead.

So, if they place the trailers out there does that mean it will free up more police to patrol our neighborhoods in order to prevent the break-ins and home invasions? 4951

@JTKK:

No, cost them money, not revenue like tickets. 4951

@JTKK: Unfortunately it is more of a friendly warning or awareness

Yeah, I know. I was being somewhat of an ***. I, like everyone else, would like to see more of their presence in our neighborhoods. We have been here for eleven years and it just seems as though it has diminished over the last few years. Anyway, didn't mean to take away from the original thread subject.

@JTKK: You brought up a good issue about police availability. What is happening is in the last eight years the Sheriff's dept was run by Adrian Garcia which he did not do a good scheduling and manpower issues. Hickman was trying to fix his snafus but got voted out and this new sheriff is just the same.

There is a speeding problem on Kingwood Drive after you go past KW Drive and W Lake Houston going both ways on KW Drive.You rarely see HPD and cars are constantly going 50 to 60 mph.  The traffic lights don't even slow them down.  I am surprised there aren't more accidents.  It's very scary.   4951
