I get a call from this person saying that they got their vehicle broken into and something got stolen out of the vehicle that came from my store. They asked how much I would charge them to replace that item and I gave them the standard price for all of the stores. They didn't seem too pleased with the answer.
Yes, if the person that call legitimately got their vehicle broken into I do feel bad, but don't expect me to take a loss from it. I can't give away or discount products for every sad story or I would go out of business. If they weren't looking for a discount they would have asked how much does said product cost?

Ha, can't hurt to ask.  I wouldn't feel bad telling them no. 4951

Darn, if she's said she gave them a big discount, I was going to claim that I had bought a ton of stuff from her and it all got stolen!Uh, @Champagnechola, what sorts of things do you sell?   Emoticon  I need to have a good story!Sorry that the people had their items stolen, but the items should be covered under their home insurance.  I found that out the first day we moved here.  Movers had most of our stuff, but we brought many personal items (and most of my guns) with us in the van.  We spent the night at the Holiday Inn at JFK and the Beltway.  The van got stolen and was stripped.  Car insurance paid for the car, but home insurance pays for the non-automotive contents of the car. 4951

I guess they did use the it doesn't hurt to ask method. I guess they got the answer that they would get from corporate; which is always no!
Situation sucks big time, but what am I supposed to do? 4951

I had a food truck vendor ask for his money back because he didn't sell as much as he wanted to. Told me it would be good business practice on my part to refund him. Good will/faith. And that he wants to do business with me in the future. Um, really? No and no. 4951

@Champagnechola: You are running a bushes, not a food pantry or charity. If they had something stolen, that is on them and in no way your issue. You can never be completely sure it's not a boo-hoo story just to scam you. Discounts and replacements are between him and his insurance company.

their insurance should cover anything stolen out of their car if it was really taken & they have proof of purchase & a police report to prove the car was broken in to ....like broken window , leaving your car unlocked is just asking for trouble. 4951

So it's a no go on my discount?

I feel like some people just make stuff up to get out of paying for things. At my DHs old job people would argue until they got something free. It's irritating. 4951
