I am so pleased that Kroger cleared all the underbrush and some of the trees blocking our view when entering and exiting their parking lot. Now I don't have to pull nearly into traffic to see what's coming. Good job Kroger! Now if kingwood would do the same The under brush needs to be cleared all around us 4951

I remember when they built that store and the surrounding communities were concerned that they would decimate all of the trees around the store. Kroger promised them that the trees would be left. I just saw the area yesterday and was surprised. For a second, I wasn't sure exactly where I was and then I realized that the trees had been cleared. I feel that they did that so that Kroger could be seen as well as the new HEB.  4951

I would like to see them beautify it more with plants and flowers. Make it more inviting to the eye. I feel with pedestrians in that area so much it will help them see without having to step into the lane of traffic. There is always dog walkers and joggers plus families with little ones on the sidewalks there. 4951

They left lots of trees. Went by today and thought it looked much better. The undergrowth around here typically looks like crap. 4951

@ET:

That will too now that they let sunlight to it.

The good thing about a Kroger being back here is that you really didn't have to look at it. Visibility isn't going to cure bad driving and indecisiveness on when to get out of that parking lot. 4951

I am so thankful to that they did it too.

I wish they would clean up the rest of it on North Park. Look now nice it looks over by Heb and by Ace. 4951

ha, just great another tree hater.  lets not do this anywhere else. Its ugly.  I have been going to that krogers for years, and can exit it just fine.  Now I see the stupid store from the street, and it just ugly.  I spoke with a manager there yesterday, and his response was now it looks more like kingwood.  Really?  I asked him have you looked around kingwood, the trees underbrush is everywhere ? even the back fence a way from the streets on the parking lot has underbrush.  It was just a shameless way to advertise their silly store and to remind us they are still there.  It sucks, and I wish they had not done it.  I guess in 10 years it will grow back, or until another store moves in and then this krogers store will do some other upgrade/marketing.   4951

My guess is they will keep after it and it will not be allowed to grow back. That is OK with me. Trees are there and still look good. 4951

@1139thx: that's exactly the intent behind that. It's like that place has gone downhill ever since they did the remodel.

Personally I like the fact that it was cleaned up. Its kinda like a new hair cut, your not sure at first, let it be for a week or 2 and it will look better and grow on you.
I have to enter Natural Bridge into Mills Branch several times a day and it feels like I have to pull half way into the street to see cars coming. I' m all for cleaning up the under brush and the garbage and letting the trees be. I want this area to look nice not trashy. 4951

@1139thx: I have to agree!  It's ugly without the underbrush.  I'm sure Kroger is trying to remind people that the NP/WLH store is still there.  I have shopped at this location for 20+ years and the underbrush was never a deterrent to me going to that store.  What about all the little animals who lost their homes?If the store manager thinks this is the way Kingwood looks he must be half blind.

It has been freaking me out.  I am not use to seeing the store, I guess I ignore it while walking in. And it seems to hold me up more while turning in, because it is so strange to see it.I do think they need to plant some large fast growing something to cover it back up.  lol

Don't lie, you're too busy doing a car count before turning in to gauge if it's worth going knowing they'll just have the 15 item and one reg line open since adding the 2 self-check machines. 4951

@podunk: What's up with that?  They have too many registers.  The lines are so close together that it is uncomfortable when the checker at the register behind you needs to pass a cart through the area.  One does not even need to be overweight for it to be a problem.  They should take out at least 4 registers if the cart and the customer have to be in the same area.  It's not like they will ever use that many registers at the same time, not even the day before Christmas.   4951
