Do y'all have any fishing spots you recommend? Still new to area and looking for a spot to keep two little ones busy. 4951

I see people fishing in the San Jac under 59 all the time. Especially when the river comes up after a rain. 4951

@2kidsandadog: I wouldn't fish at the San Jacinto River the fish may be to contaminated IMO. Rather take the drive to Lake Livingston...

@coco1248: if you're concerned about San Jac being contaminated, Livingston/Trinity will just blow your mind.

@podunk: Then, the best suggestion is, throw the fish back...do not eat it. But you are right no spot is safe from contamination.

We are looking for catch and release. Lol, we are from Baltimore originally where the fish glow. 4951

@2kidsandadog:

You won't like HEB much then. Once they wrap it, they expect you to pay and take your "catch" home. 4951

If you are looking to fish close to home I would opt for the Eisenhower Park near Summerwood. It is allright but has a lot of fisherman in the area wanting crappie and catfish. Now if you want fishing in a nice camping setting I would say Double Lake recreation area near Coldspring, tx. Now if you are truly wanting large strippers and catfish or hybrids than the Trinity Dam area in Lake Livingston is your best bet. 4951

I will second below Livingston dam...there's a trespass fee you pay at the gas station, but from a numbers game it's hard to beat without going salty.

(Take a castnet, catch some shad)

Last trip my wife caught a 38lb drum and after that battle with all 12 gates open I got to laugh at her about it not even counting as a fish. 4951

Can take a lunch and head to Texas City. Plenty of room for kids to run and can catch croaker on shrimp pretty much all day. 4951

Marina Dr on Hamblen. Little pond next to the river. Catch and release great spot. It's for Forest Cove residents but I seriously doubt anybody says anything. Also along the river next to it. 4951

I like both large and small strippers. My guess is that if they have the big ones, the small strippers can't be far behind! 4951
