So it looks like they are cutting down most of the trees at Kroger by Northpark and west lake Houston. It really looks like crap. We moved to Kingwood for the trees and I fear this entire are is going to be overrun with asphalt before too long. 4951

Be glad you do not live in Atascocita. They have decimated all the forest in our area. Really sad. 4951

I hate to point out the obvious, but you do realize they cut down forestry in order to build your house, right? Not saying I want them to keep cutting trees down, but Kingwood is far from being fully developed. Just an FYI, but there will be more of that, in the future. 4951

@ExBlue: 59 is more like Porter expansion...nobody wants that to expand.

This isn't the market to be cutting down trees for profit. I'm sitting on a lot and still waiting for an uptick from the 2011 fires.

@ExBlue: they just cut down trees lining the road. They have been there since the 90s. There is nothing that can possibly be developed over the area of trees they cut.... but yeah thanks for pointing out the obvious.

Hey, I can relate. When I married my husband, we bought this house, together. It was beautiful, with trees behind our privacy fence. I was so happy with this house for about 2 years - and then the saws showed up, and now I have 3 new rows of houses behind mine. Emoticon Oh, well. Still like the house, still like the area, so I will probably stick around for a while. 4951

Are you sure they can't squeeze in a tiny strip mall? That seems to be a thing with Texas - well, that and bugs that are the biggest that I've ever seen! Or maybe they are going to do something with adding a lane of traffic, or a turning lane? Who knows. Yes, it sucks, but there's really nothing you can do about it. 4951

I think it looks much better. Plus now people walking or on bikes can see the cars rocketing from the parking lot. 4951

Might be trying to make the store visible from the street. It was pretty well hidden. 4951

@ET:  Which would be ironic, because there was rioting in the street to keep the tree screen when Kroger was built....supposedly Kroger took down too many as it was. 4951

The whole landscape of kingwood has changed. The liveable forest has lost a lot of its trees. Losing its small town feel. Sometimes progress doesn't feel good. 4951

It's okay, you can call it regression by applying Newton's 3rd Law to "progress". 4951

That clearing was just so folks could see how long the line was at Cane's.
