@lola:

Because of the thickness of her under coat, they had to shave her closer than i wanted, i don't like it short enough for them to get a sun burn.
This is echo's first time. Usually it will fill in pretty quickly.
I've tried them both without shaving, and shaving, and they actually seem to do better in the heat, shaved. I know it goes against what some people/websites say, but i made the judgement by observing my dogs. 4951

We had a dog that was a mix of Chow and something else, but her fur was black and had long hair with a very thick undercoat.  In the spring, we would clip her fur down to about 1/2".  Before we started doing that, she couldn't tolerate the sun/heat for more than a few minutes.  After we started clipping her, she could stay outside and play.  She looked funny, but it was good to see her happier. 4951

@FoFa: In all seriousness will you need to put sunscreen on her?  My dog is orange and has short hair and her belly has no hair and she loves to lay out on the deck.  I'm always afraid she is going to get a sun burn.

@gigem09:

Petco KW, only place we could get all 3 in, in a reasonable time frame. And quite frankly, they seem to do pretty good, and care about the animals. When i brought echo in, one of the girls said, she remember doing her last year, boy she is a lot bigger now. She was about 6 or 7 months when we had her bathed and trimmed.
