Please learn the rules of the road.  You run on the side walk on Northpark, turn left onto Hidden Pines and run against the traffic dressed in either all black or dark gray.  The only other color I saw this morning was the white strap from one of your fanny packs in the back while I was trying to get my heart to start beating normal again and could continue my commute to work.  I almost hit you this morning as 6:05.  I came to the stop sign at Hidden Pines and Oak Shores.  The house on the corner has a large bush and a fire hydrant.  I stopped for the stop sign and there was no cars in either direction.  I went to make the right and almost ran you both over when you came from behind the bushes on the wrong side of the street and made no effort to stop at the stop sign you had or look to see if traffic was there.  You should have been running on the other side of the street with some kind of reflective gear on.  This is not the first time I have almost hit you or that I have seen others almost hit you when you turned left onto Hidden Pines off Northpark into the right turn lane that is used daily.  You NEVER have any kind of reflective gear on and I have seen you wear a white shirt once. Please correct me if I am wrong but are they not supposed to be running with the flow of traffic not against it.  I would hate for one of them to get hit and I would be besides myself if I hit one of them.  Sorry for the rant but this is 2 adult woman and please correct me if I am wrong about how they are supposed to run on the street.   4951

@dotti573: Not with the flow-of traffic, but in the opposite direction. The point is so that the 'runner' if is alert (not-texting) can see cars heading their way, and move. I see this type of dumbos do it all the time dressed in black or very dark clothing at night with the attitude that 'the car better stop for them' -- cannot fix stupid vanity, or the lift don't go all the way to the top. I hate to think they are breeding and passing on such lack-of common sense to their offspring's.

Run against traffic. A bicycle is considered a vehicle, so it is subject to the same laws as cars and trucks. Cyclists ride with traffic. You are not a vehicle. You are a runner. You are also in a highly vulnerable position if you’re running near cars, trucks, and bicycles.
So the best way to prevent an untimely meeting with one of these vehicles is to be able to see them. That means running on the side of the road or on the sidewalk and running while facing traffic.

@coco1248: I know at least one has an offspring because the child went to my DD's school.

Give a big honk next time right when you get close. Even better invest in one of those train air horns that all the redneck kids have on there poser 2x4 pickups. That will make the ladies jump.

@SwaggyG: If I didn't drive a small Elantra that has a horn that sounds like a toy I would.  My family makes fun of it all the time.

@Andreweggplant: OK.  So I'm wrong then and joggers do not have to follow any rules.  They can just run in front of traffic at a 4 way stop sign?  Just doesn't seem right to me.  I apologize for complaining then but they really are risking their lives running in the dark with basically no street lights.  Good luck to them then.  Glad I'm observant when I drive.

I do run against traffic so I can see cars coming at me, but I only run on the street if there is no sidewalk/trail available, I never run in the dark, and if I am on the street and see a car coming in my direction I will step up into the yard if needed. These ladies don't sound very smart if they are running in the dark while wearing dark clothing and running through stop signs when a car is already there... 4951

@dotti573: Every morning when I go to the bus stop I encounter anywhere from 3 to 5 joggers usually dressed in black or dark clothing along Woodbridge or Sandy Forks. You are OK to complain. They are hard to see. There has been more than once that I have not seen them until the last minute. Reflective vests etc are cheap. I walk the dog at 5:00 most every day and have a vest and a flashlight and walk against traffic. I like to see what is coming at me in case they don't see me or are just another idiot driver not paying attention.

I'm a runner too, and yes, I always run toward oncoming traffic so I can see what the cars are doing. That being said, I wear white or bright colors even in the daylight. 4951

Next time yell out the window and let them know you almost ran them over because you couldn't see them in their dark clothing. When I ran in the early morning before dawn, I would wear a light so people could see me. I would also never cross in front of a car unless eye contact was made and I was confident that it was okay. 4951
