The other thing that I took away from the meeting is that the police blame the owners who had their cars broken into. It was their fault because they left personal belongings in their cars and most of them were unlocked.
I have a great suggestion for the police, put more officers on duty and actually put some effort into catching the people that are breaking the law.
@saltwaterfisherman:
Here's the thing, leaving valuables in your car, in plain sight, is just stupid. When you go to the gym, do you leave you wallet, stuffed with cash and credit cards, sitting on the bench outside of your locker, or do you lock it up? Don't be an idiot! Most people who are victims of those types of crimes are victims of opportunity. Same goes with locking your car door. Do you lock the doors on your house? Well then, lock the doors to your vehicle!
This type of thought process always amazes me. It's like someone who knows their teen is sexually active, but allows them to have guests of the opposite sex, in their bedroom, with the door closed, and then see amazed when the girl ends up pregnant. Duh!
Now, with regards to police presence, I definitely think Kingwood gets the shaft on this one, but when I worked on the PD, those areas that had more crime, always had more officers assigned to that area. Think of that as "supply and demand". It's the ugly truth, but the truth and nothing but the proof. Having said that, feel free to put the station on speed dial for anything that is non emergency, because remember, the squeaky wheel always gets the grease. 4951
