I've had two....

Depending on what they do, find a way to work with them... and keep everything well documented. A holes will always blame someone else for their shortcomings. If you have all your ducks in a row when they pick you, hand their **** back to them in a folder. They will not pick on you again. 4951

I had one tell me "I don't know how you can do it but you need to learn to read my mind" she was only chatty and friendly on the 30th of the month, payday..she was just trying to keep me there past when the bank closed so I couldn't deposit my check. I paid all the bills, I knew. I coped by quitting but before that, I would send all the bill collector calls through to her. She hated that. 4951

I once worked for a wicked witch with a nasty disposition.  She once told me to dismantle and move our server pc to the storage closet, not knowing that this would bring the hospital's entire network down. When I opened my mouth to warn her, she started screaming at me that she did not ask for my opinion and she was the program director so I was to do what she ordered, no questions asked! So I smiled sweetly and said "Um... ok"  I was going to do it and let the whole network go down but she suspected something was going to backfire on her so she said "Wait a minute. Why should we not move it?"  At least she did have to suffer the humiliation of being an exposed hasty tempered @ss-hat.Another time, after I had gotten approval to hire my daughter as a clerk, the Evil One told my daughter to give notice at her job because she was hired! And before my daughter's notice was up at her job, I walked in to work one day to find that Sasquatch had hired one of her daughter's friends on the sly without telling me or my daughter that she was un-hired. How I coped with it:  I found a better job.  I felt that I was going to visit some physical violence on her if I didn't remove myself. I don't look good in orange. So... 4951

I had one once that needed to control everything. She had to know when we stepped out to use the restroom even thought we all worked independently in separate offices. It was so odd. 4951

He liked to have tough conversations in his office, while cleaning his gun.  I'm not anti-gun, but ....yeah.     4951

@MarT:

Honestly, get out while you can. People don't change. These kind live so that you may suffer. They get off on it. Get out and stay out. You will never be happy. You'll die a slow death. Not worth it. 4951

She stole one of my commission-based clients when I wasn't looking.... (Found where she had scratched it out of my report & added it to hers)... Then she lied about it. She would buy "office supplies" with petty cash, then go return the items to get the refund & pocketed it. She became "the other woman" when a client's wife was out of town; Later ended up moving in with him. She started doing drugs. We took turns working weekends, and when it was her weekend, the office was locked up all day long, so clients would call me asking why we weren't open. She would take 3 hour lunch breaks, and was often unavailable for manager-specific approvals that clients needed. She never answered her phone when she was on call. Her boyfriend would hang out in the office, (which was also open to clients), and she'd be sitting in his lap. She lied alot. Oh! And....She hired another assistant who worked for 2 weeks, and then never paid her.

How I coped: She eventually got fired, and I was already prepping for a new job anyway since I was almost done getting my degree. 4951

I was enlisted in the Guard and my Staff Sergeant screwed me over on a school to get promoted. He sent another Soldier who did not meet the criteria out of favoritism since he knew him for years. Fixed it though. Ended up going to officer school instead. 8 months later I was his superior and the Soldier. No hard feeling though. I just wanted people treated fairly and I really tried to do that the rest of my career.  4951

@BooBear:
I think she meant for you to stay one step ahead of her because is she needs to tell you what to do then she doesn't need you and night as well do it herself
