Well, we had our jeep transported by the moving company when we moved here. They put it on a trailer locked it down and away it went. It was locked in a secure location until we could pick it up. Is your company moving you? We also transported our jeep ourselves using a trailer attached to a Uhaul truck...carrying the things the moving company would not transport.  4951

I moved a car from Michigan to Arkansas on a U-Haul trailer once.  Due to the condition of the vehicle, I used a full trailer with all four tires up.  Nothing much to it if all four tires are on the trailer.  I've also towed my jeep behind my truck with all 4 wheels down from here up to Missouri.  I'd caution against doing that with most vehicles as I'm to understand you can burn up the transmission.  Jeeps are designed with that in mind.  I've never towed a vehicle any real distance with two wheels up.  I'd recommend you check with the manufacturer to see if you need to take any precautions.One generic caution regardless of how you do it is to pay attention while stopping and going down hills.  Depending on were you start in Arkansas (Ozarks, Ouachitas, mostly Oklahoma, or via Texarkana) you're bound to hit some level of "not flat and straight".  Inexperienced folks tend to pay attention to how hard the tow-vehicle is working when they take off and how much it labors going up the hill.  Those are not the dangerous parts.  Coming down that hill or sudden breaking and trying to stop two vehicles with one set of brakes (if the trailer/towed vehicle is unequipped) can put you...as my late grandmother would say...***-end over tea kettle in a hurry.If you feel like providing more information as to what sort of vehicle you'll be moving and what your options are for moving it with, it might help to narrow down the advice.  4951

Depends on the size. If it's a car you could go with a the two wheel towing option at Uhaul. For something larger you will need the full drive on towing option and have to rent a Uhaul or something much heavier than what you are pulling. Never want to tow something that is heavier than what you are towing it with. Uhaul should be able to tell you over the phone or online what you need. Not sure if any other company rents those. They may now....been a while since I checked. 4951

A friend had his towed packed to the tops of the windows for less money than it would have been to drive/stay in hotels/eat. 4951

I have driven several cars from Minneapolis to Seattle and Portland.They were not my vehicles and I  was hired by an agency that specialized in hiring drivers for car relocation.  Can't remember the outfit though.  I am sure there are outfits out there that do the same.  I had to meet very high standards for the job too! 4951

@beastmode: I will be hiring someone. I realize now I should have been more specific in my OP.I'm not able to get to Arkansas and bring it back myself.

@shodan66: It's a Chevy Malibu. I'm hoping to get it here with a TV in the trunk.

@Gramoda:

When you call these places for pricing, you need to have them quote you using specific shipping terms. Some of those terms are:

Door to door - means exactly that. They pick it up where it is and deliver it to your door, on a car transport vehicle. These are not good terms if the pick up or drop off location has tight roadways that will make it impossible to get the car transport vehicle to and from either place. This is the most expensive sale term. Also, be aware that they may try to sell you this term and then tell you they can't get their vehicle to the pick up or drop off location. They tried to do that to me and I told them if they couldn't get a rig down my street, they needed to find a driver who knew how to drive. It got delivered to my door. Emoticon

From (named place) to (named place): with this term, you are probably going to have to have someone drive the vehicle to the car lot where it will be towed from and then pick it up where the local arrival lot is. This will be cheaper, but if you don't have someone available to drop the car, you will have a problem.

Make sure they are insured. Make sure you take photos of the vehicle condition when it gets dropped/picked up, and then inspect when you get the vehicle. If they do one of those diagrams where they circle every location where there is a scratch, dent or nick, make sure you initial each spot and agree with what they have stated about the preexisting damage. Do NOT let them have you sign the form without going through all of that. Sometimes, they try to be sneaky and don't put anything on the form, you sign it, and then if they damage it, they fill in the form with the damage - that you have already signed, like a blank check.

Good luck! 4951

Is it from a dealership?  Many dealerships have regular drivers that they keep in their pocket for moving vehicles around.  My dad retired several years ago but still picks up some extra walking around money driving for his local dealership.  If it's from a private owner and you don't have anyone, you might be able to have a local dealer refer someone.  If it's in the Little Rock area, Landers is the big dog and would likely have someone they could recommend. 4951

Reindeer Auto Transport did ours when we relocated here a few years ago. They did a very good job!
They came to our home, loaded the car onto a semi car carrier and took off with it. When they go here we met them in a Kroger parking lot as it was easier for the driver than getting into the cul de sac we live on, otherwise they would have brought it right to our new house. 4951

@Gramoda...yes we had 2 vehicles  transported from Texas to Kentucky , $600. for each vehicle . They picked them up at our home in Texas , drove them onto a transport truck that had several other vehicles on it & strapped them down . They were delivered to our home in Kentucky safe & sound . No problems at all . 4951
