They are all about the same around here. I like Picos or El Tiempo if heading downtown. 4951

Cha Chi's, El Ranchero, Cilantros, Las Palmas.  Personally I like Cha Chi's and Cilantros...  I am sure there are others near by 4951

Chachis is the best of the local group as I see it but many despise it for some reason. 4951

Las Palomas or Chuy's locally. If in Houston, I agree with the Alien on Pico's or El Tiempo. 4951

Chachi's is good but it's so loud and I don't like their seating. So close. And the chairs are so uncomfortable.

We go to Las Palomas at least once a week. Amazing margaritas. The food is good, consistent and the people that work there are so sweet - family run. If there's a wait which there usually is it's very fast and you can drink while you wait! 4951

Chuy's!!I judge Mexican restaurants by their chips & salsa, chimichangas, and chili rellenos. Chuy's is the best. The jalapeno ranch is so good and the fish tacos are great. Can't go wrong. 4951

Everything mentioned is TexMEx.  Mexican? Hugo's, which means going to the Montrose area.  Worth it?  Yes!  Do the Sunday brunch, every time he needs to redeem himself.  Countless times I was saved. 4951

@mulmye:

Yeah but I am pretty sure this was a correct interpretation of what was being asked. Mexican is just a shortcut for Tex-Mex. You have to say "no, I meant Mexican food" to get to that answer. 4951
