Today i pick up my 4th or 5th pair of lenses since mid November.  I have lost track of the count i have tried so many.  I have had 5 eye exams by 3 different optomotrist too!  I really really really hope the changes made this time work.  I am so sick of being dizzy and seeing slanted when i look down.I think every possible thing that could be changed has been done to the lenses now so i am praying this is finally the end of this eye journey. 4951

@foxymama: Sorry, I just saw your post. I know that some doctors can perform a "failure analysis" to determine why your lenses repeatedly don't work for you. I'm sorry, I really don't know more than that about it. I just know someone that had it done.  Good Luck to you.

That is crazy. Do they work for a short time or have none of them been correct? 4951

@gigem09: "Work for a short time" a very short time according to my friend.  I thought maybe her blood pressure was affecting something from the time she got the prescription to the time she used them but she went through a bad divorce and we sort of lost contact in a meaningful way. I really don't know the outcome of the analysis.

None have been correct.  Though It seems this last try is a good fit.  Best so far anyway.Firstappointment , they dilated my eyes before doing the exam so my RX was wrong.  Second time, the RX was decent but i saw slanted and things just didn't line up right and my distance was blurry.Third time, Distance got fixed and the alignment not right still seeing slanted.  Fourth time alignment was fixed but still slanted.  This last time i sought two new opinions one thought it was the material of the lens since it was different from my last pair and the other thought it was my eyes not able to handle the new strength of the RX.  So both the material changed to the same brand and material as my last good pair and reduced the RX a bit. I learned a lot about lenses in the process and what questions to ask before i make another eye appointment in the future. 4951

Hubby has a similar issue. Is it easier to wear contacts for long distance and cheaters for close up to avoid dizziness? I don't look forward to losing my up close vision! 4951

Are you sure the frames are fitted properly? Are your eyes centered within the lens? They grind the prescription in the center of the lens where it's the thinnest so if the frames are too big, your eyes won't be centered and it will affect your vision. 4951

I would recommend going to an ophthalmologist over an optometrist.  There is a lot of difference between the two IMO. 4951

Are you going to the same vendor for the glasses each time? Same person making them?

Have you asked for supervisor to fabricate them or credit at a different location? 4951

you can also ask them to check the "base curve" of your lenses , I use to make glasses in a lab & if the base curve was off it could cause all kinds of problems . 4951

Have you had glasses before? It takes a while for the brain to recognize the new input.Whenever I get a new pair it takes about 2 weeks for me to adjust. I've been wearing glasses for 50 years. 4951

I have been wearing glasses for 23 years.  Emoticonrogressives for 8 and glasses with prism for 3.  SO it is not about adjusting to them.  At least not longer than a week. I have seen  3 different optomotrists.  2 at the same office and the 3 third at a totally different place. I have had them all made at the same place because i forked over $500 and they haven't charged me for remakes.  I did get a price at another location for $350 as an alternative option.  But luckily I think things are finally correct. And yes i am prediabetic and have been checking my blood sugar every morning and sometimes a couple hours after a meal.  It has been in the normal range the whole time.  Trust me i have grasped at all straws trying to find answers.  And my last A1C lab was only borerline prediabetic at 5.7So it wasn't some blood sugar fuluctations causing my problems.  It has been a **** poor optomotrist office that needs to better educate their staff. 4951
