I am on house arrest. My blood count is to low to get out. When my 24 year old daughter called me and said Mom I'm I'm the ER with blood pressure of 158 over 115 I put two masks on bathed my hands with antibacterial and had a friend drive me there.
That is the hospital they saved my husband at 38 under the name of Humble Northeast from a massive cardiac arrest. I walked in with a feeling of fear. We lost him last year at this time. We were no longer married but remained friends.
I do not want to judge this hospital from a 2 hour snap shot at the same time my daughter and I were
When you get there they triage you and knew her BP was high. She sat there over 2 hours. They brought people in from an ambulance stomach flu dehydrated throwing up a lot of pain the ambulance drivers were told to get her off gurney and sit in chair she was crying said her stomach hurt had to lay. They took her off she crawled to the wall and lay down next to the wall on the floor. Next was an old patient did similar. My daughters ears and face were blood red my daughter cried said I can't see this. We walked out and went to 24 hour emergency which helped her and no co-pay. It was not surprising with my circumstances it is anxiety.
I have been in many emergency rooms I was saddened the young lady was very sick no one with her and also for the elderly women

Before we walked out I asked them to retake her pressure they refused.
Even Ben Taub I'm told puts you in bed in the hall. My daughter today said mom I can't get those poor people out of my mind. Shame on them. My daughter is under so much stress with my illness her MD is raising her blood pressure medication. 4951

@Ann2800 So sorry to hear that. It happens in every emergency room. I walked into KMC once with a kidney stone, they put me on a gurney in the hallway & I could see open in the ER. The nurses did all the work - all the doctor did was tell me what I already knew. For that I got a bill from the doctor.  It took me a few years before I would go back to KMC. The day with the kidney stone I had an infection and I was never so cold in my life. That stayed with me. Hope your daughter gets her BP under control. 4951

@thegoodwife: that's just awful. It does stay with you. I could not accept this woman taking off the gurney and she just rolled on the floor to the wall. My daughters face was in shock.

There's so much contagious stuff in the ER. I never could understand why the whole family had to show up with a young adult man that obviously had the stomach virus. He threw up in the water fountain. Um actually at that point the floor would've been better. So disgusting! 4951

All ERs are like this- everywhere. They are understaffed and overworked. My nephew is an EMT in Ohio- he says it's very common to call a squad over minor things to get a transport to the hospital because they don't have a car and they don't have insurance.I remember having to go to the ER 20 years ago because I had pneumonia and it was the weekend. I went in at 8pm and wasn't seen till 3AM. I was so sick I wanted to die- running 103 fever and couldn't breathe. There were too many traumas coming in ( DUI car wrecks- it was a Sat night 🙄). When I finally got a bed in the back I discovered the previous patient had died- the heart monitor was still there with the read out still attached. You could see where they had shocked him. That was creepy.I hope your DD gets stabilized!! 4951
