There are no Texas cities on that list even though Texans are considered "gun nuts". As a matter of fact, Texas is
@Retired_Engineer: Kind of interesting that 11 of the top 25 are what texans would consider liberal states, 12 are what texans would consider northern states and 6 are firm Yankee land.

@CantStandTex:  Some Yankees are OK.  It's the very blue states in the Northeast and California that I dislike the most!  In addition, not all Democrats are anti-gun or extremely liberal.

I find it hilarious that DC, Maryland, and New Hampshire have a higher gun ownership rate than Texas and Connecticut is #25, only about 1.5 guns/1000 people behind Texas!  Some of those NE states have a long and well-established history of hunting (eg Pennsylvania, Maine, and rural New York) so they are usually OK with most rifles and shotguns.

That cannot be supported with facts.

@BooBear: Really? Log onto KDC, Go to a local grocery store, go to a Walmart around here during normal business hours, have 1 conversation with @Fallon and it is the easiest to prove and most factual thing I have said yet. I didn't even say "read @BooBear  's posts"

Have a good day all. I will continue to post if and when I feel like it. That is what a forum is for; diversion. Well, that is what I use it for.  Sorry pink flamingo and right wing conspiracy dude, I've read some of your other posts...I can practically feeeeel my brain atrophying.

@aggiegmom:

This chick is a piece of work. I almost think it's the same person in that long driving thread. The one that belittled everyone and made sure he/she let everyone know he was smarter than them?

This person has some type of social anxiety, and I'm sure is a blast a functions. Someone that has to tell you how smart they are, and how dumb everyone else is, surely has a synapse misfire. And they never realize it.

I am now awaiting my turn to be told how dumb I am.

@CantStandTex:   Actually, it shows how misguided many people's perceptions in other states are about Texas.  I didn't say I was surprised about those NE states, I said I find it hilarious.

@calguy: If Houston is "slowly returning to the good old days of the wild west", what are your thoughts about all the states that have a higher gun rate than Texas?

Other posts exist, given but I wanted to cite a new thread.

Obama, holds last speech at McCormick; the most expensive venue in the lower 48. Further, briefly discusses activism within a community whom in the last year had surpassed the per capita murder rate of LA and NYC.....with the most restrictive gun laws. Look it up. Chicago is now the murder capitol of the lower 48.

For those unknown....you can't even buy ammo in IL without a FOID card. The argument of those crossing state lines is also moot as Indiana, Michigan and Minnesota won't sell to out of state DL's.

Rahm, his buddy is no where to be found. Blugovich is still rotting in prison for trying to sell his Senate seat. Jesse Jackson Jr.; construct of the Illinois political system is also in jail on corruption. Yet his daddy still is all over CNN as holier than thou presence.

O goes back one more time to pander and circlejerk what's left of his followers. From this seat the numbers are limited....

I very much like judge Nepolitanos commentaries on Fox. Not because I believe all...but because I like to think:

What if what you are told isn't true
What if truth wasn't factual
What if interests governed your mind
What if facts were driven by interests
What if you were told what to believe
What if you believed everything you were told
What if you didn't know the difference
What if your ignorance was assumed
What if most don't question or fact check
What if people that want to control you know this

Food for thought. This above is my own paragraph statement....not judge N. I created this dialogue myself.

@TXtransplant: If he wanted to hold his farewell address in Chicago, where do you feel he should have held it instead?  And, wouldn't it be wrong of him to avoid Chicago in which to give his farewell address because of their crime rate. What exactly did he do wrong in terms of where he wanted to give his farewell address. Please state facts not weak correlations. And, try not to attack, simply prove what and how he did wrong in his choice. And please before you bash for personal reasons, check where the other former Presidents gave their farewell speeches and I think you will be able to see for yourself that it is a very emotional decision for them. I'm sorry you dislike him so much but you can't just make sh** up, someone will call you on it.

@aggiegmom:

I don't believe that I was making anything up. The murder stat I took was from the WashingtonPost:

www.washingtonpost.com/amphtml/news/post-nation/wp/2016/09/01/chicago-has-seen-more-homicides-this-year-than-new-york-and-los-angeles-combined

Although murder capital of the lower 48 was not mentioned. In that regard I wrongly caught it as implied.

McCormick Place is the most expensive convention center in the Country. I know this from booking trade shows all over the US for years. Anyone who doesn't want to get flat out extorted avoids this venue.

Blugo and Jesse Jackson Jr. are indeed in jail.

To legally purchase ammo or guns in a store in IL you have to have a FOID card. Also, most state stores will not sell to someone with an out of state DL. Personal transactions, just like in every other US state currently don't require such measures.

Rahm is one of the most hated mayors on the planet. He has continued Obama's policies and shoved Chicago down the same rabbit hole Obama tried to en masse create of our whole country.

Personally I could care less where Obama holds his final conference. I do find it hilariously ironic however that the failed president circled back to his activist starting place while that same locale, a microchasm of all things he supported bears the spoiled fruit of left wing politics.

@CantStandTex, how dare you.

I do not go to Walmart.   Well I go to the local Walmart to get bird food.  That is all.

@Retired_Engineer: I don't think it's seriously misguided. The total population with all of our metro/city areas skews the stats.

@podunk:  I'm sure the murder rate for the big cities in Texas totals more than all the rural areas of Texas, but I couldn't find any data to confirm that.  The same for gun ownership.
