My husband and I went to The Draft today for a quick afternoon meal. When it first opened, we were regulars and then kiind of burned out. It also seemed that the quality of food had gone a bit downhill -- frozen avocado on salads, anyone?Well, today the hostess handed us the old menus and a "new" menu. The new menu had some really, really good stuff on it. I ordered the meatloaf sandwich, and it was unreal. A huge, massive slice of juicy meatloaf with cheese and grilled peppers and onions on Texas toast. Maybe one of the best meatloaf sandwiches of my life.Hubby loves their wings, and they are almost always outstanding. Today was Wings Wednesday, 50% off wings. He got 10 wings for $5!!! Can't beat that price. Half were Korean BBQ (a new flavor) and the other half were Pan-Asian.Their onion rings are homemade, very light and spicy breading.It was just a nice surprise to see a restaurant with an updated menu selection and with food that more than met our expectations.  Emoticon 4951

@HollyHobby: Not a meatloaf or meatloaf sandwich fan, however, it does sound creative and homestyle, and you can't go wrong with that. The other items sound yummy!

@Annie:  Yes! And it's amazing. They still have their old menu but are adding quite a few new selections.

Seriously if you want some unreal food Check out City Acre Brewing Co off of Jensen ( exit past Little York). Yep it's a drive but OMG the food ( and beer but I'm not a beer fan).
They have their own garden and try to use as much home grown as possible.

Dragons Breath fries
Spatzle( as good as I ate in GER)
Burgers-Hubs got the GER burger- venison and sausage ( locally sourced)
Home made pickles

And they smoke pork and turkey. I've been to many smoke houses here in TX. My Dd stated it best ( and both of us are not pulled pork fans)- DIVINE. We brought a pound home.
The beer drinkers like the beer( I was DD- so none for me) and they serve wine.

Our new go to place- with the drive- hole in the wall with some people who know Brewing, food and gardening!!!!

@lola: I know Right????? We were making our weekly drive to downtown to see our son. I was looking out the window when I saw a red barn type structure that said City Acre Brewing- I googled and was surprised at the menu offerings. I was very skeptical- we went and I was totally wowed. The cook/ chef came out to ask us how the food was and how to improve ( I suggested sautéed mushrooms as an option for the Spatzle- common in GER). He then came out with samples of bacon ( perfect!) and their smoked pulled pork and turkey- THATS how we came home with a pound of pulled pork(5.00 he charged!!!) we're going back for brunch and preordering more pork!!!!

@Jpgurl: Thanks for the info. My wife and I are always looking for new places. We will definitely give this place a try. All it took for me was to see that they have their own IPA.

@JTKK:
The IPA was approved but the beer lovers.im of much into beer so I drive them around from brewery to brewery. I was thrilled the food was so good.
Also the son of a friend of mine co- owns Sigma Brewerythat just opened- there's a great selection there too!!!! I enjoyed one- Love something- can't remember it. It's on the east side of 59- they don't serve food but there's usually a food truck in the parking lot!!

@Jpgurl: Wow, based on website it's now on the to-visit list. Did you happen to notice how handicapped accessible it might be? (e.g., close parking, enough space for a walker to maneuver between tables)  Thanks!

@jjapt: Types there was 1 ADA parking spot in front of the building ( about 50 feet from the entrance?)and you could get a walker through- the seating is tables and benches. The inside was small . I think they also own the Victorian house next door that can be rented for events but its not open to the public.
