>> No rants from me today, but I am a bit frustrated. My wife broke her Samsung Galaxy S3, so we ordered Galaxy S7's to replace ours. There are some similarities, but there are also a lot of differences between the S3 and S7. It also didn't transfer things as simple as Samsung said it would. I'm keeping my old S3 as a backup, which will replace my wife's S7 if/when she breaks it. Every upgrade has usually been a result of her dropping her phone in water. This is the first time she broke it (well, just the screen). One dunking was done by a small child when she worked at a pre-K/K school.
@Retired_Engineer:
Invest in a good case.
@ET: We like Otterbox. She had one on her S3 and we've got one for the S7. She tripped on some stairs, caught herself from falling, but her S3 went flying.
@Retired_Engineer:
It broke in the case? Don't they guarantee no breakage?
@ET: It apparently hit something solid on the screen side. She didn't even realize that she'd lost it at the time. Our daughter found it. The "rubber" or elastomer used in most cases usually harden over time, rendering them less shock-absorbing, although it probably wouldn't have helped in this case.  I had to replace the nice rubber grips with nice wood inserts on my Ruger GP-100's because they had gotten hard. Originally, they helped cushion the recoil. Once the rubber hardened, it was like shooting with a solid grip. I replaced the grips with some from Hogue.
