I have some friends coming in town from Sweden and I want to introduce them to tamales.
Where can I buy some good homemade tamales? 4951

@0207ang: There is no comparison, at all, to homemade. It just can't be duplicated in a commercial setting.

@princecharming, in a previous post, said he made tons this season. Hopefully, with this tag, he will chime in and offer to sell some, if there are any left. 4951

I second SwaggyG, Grannys has the best around. Their spinach and cheese ones are down right the best!  4951

Taco Flores on 1960 had a sign out about homemade tamales, but I've not tried them. Best around here are probably Granny's.  However they seem to be smaller these days... I'm lucky... DD is bringing some from this place she goes to in Leander - Tamale Place... One's a meal!!  Emoticon 4951

@CC1974: Yummmmm. Thanks for the tip. We bought 3 dozen and they were terrific. Bean and cheese. Spinach and cheese. Spicy pork and beef. Even my husband liked the spinach tamales. They are smaller than we usually get, but still quite good. $10/dozen and you can't split up the flavors.

@HollyHobby:

We just picked up 6 dozen from Granny's about 30 minutes ago. We didn't pre-order and they were busy but they had plenty on hand. We've never had them from there before so I hope they live up to the KW.com hype! Parking was a little difficult; they're moving down the road soon to a much bigger place (from 800 sqft to 2000 sqft) so that's a plus!

@Champagnechola:

I drove by a couple of hours ago and the parking lot was full and the line was out the door! Must be good. Not much of a tamale fan, too much corn maize for me, but Grandma must know how to make them!

I was telling my Hispanic friend about that place and he wanted to know why it wasn't called "Abuelita's". I told them they probably called it Grandma's so the non-Hispanics could enjoy the tamales, too! He said, "Good point!" 4951
