A Greentree Elementary teacher has resigned after a photo surfaced showing a controversial text message she had allegedly sent. According to ABC 13, the incident took place in the stands at a Kingwood vs Nimitz high school basketball game. A Nimitz parent was sitting behind the teacher, and decided to snap a photo of her private texts. The image of the phone shows a message that reads, "I'm so sick of playing black people."  Having felt that the message was racially motivated, the parent decided to send the picture to a Houston activist named Gerry Monroe. He immediately contacted Humble ISD. Humble ISD did release this statement to us regarding the incident:"Humble ISD expects educators to show respect for all students and to demonstrate good sportsmanship at student events. The text message does not represent the values of the district. Upon being made aware of the photo, the district took immediate action by investigating. That investigation revealed that a person employed as an elementary school teacher sent the text. She has resigned." 4951

Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences. If it could be embarrassing or potentially cause you trouble later, don't ever put it in writing. You never know who is violating your privacy and/or peeking over your shoulder (which was 100% wrong BTW - theft of intellectual property).

It was wrong to say such things about a student and it's never a good thing to be a hater, so both individuals hold equal responsibility, as far as I am concerned. 4951

"Having felt that the message was racially motivated, the parent (Nimitz of course) DECIDED to send the picture to a Houston ACTIVIST named Gerry Monroe. He immediately contacted Humble ISD." blah blah blahNow, if one ask I would say this parent is just as racist or perhaps embarrass because she is black? Hey, be careful everybody don't mention the word BLACK it seems to be offensive or insensitive, such full of s**th. If I say that the NFL & most sports comprise of black-players am I being racist? **** NO. Because is true, all very filthy rich but somehow feeling inferior because of the heritage? We know diverse cultures are diverse in all senses. Black culture ain't no different than Latinos/Hispanics, Middle Easterners, Whites, Asians, etc etc and each of us know it. We have all different ways of communication, hell, even the food is different. So, why does a person got to lose her job because one arceOle felt saying the word BLACK is offensive? I bet if those NON BLACK could hear what the black say and text to each other about them, they will not make such big friking deal. Thanks BHO for bringing such stupid poor woe is me mentality & divisions among Blacks and all Americans. So friking disgusted with the NEW CULTURE disgusted! grrr so sue me.  4951

@coco1248: Are you kidding me?  You think President Obama invented the racial divide?  Might I suggest to you that the racial problems in this country began long before Obama was born and sadly might continue long after he's dead.  The only thing that has changed is that social media has made it much easier for us to communicate our feelings in regards to the issue.  There's not a president that can be elected to change what's in a person's heart.

@coco1248: BHO and some of his suppprters have turned simply disagreeing and political opposition into racism. I dislike his presidency, his policies, his actions, and his political views, but I don't dislike him as a person. He's actually very likeable and has a great sense of humor. I just don't believe he did the country any favors during his administration. You need more than likeability and a good sense of humor to be a good or great president.

Now I'm sure some will take my political opposition and dislike of his actions as president as racism, and I'm sure that was exactly the motivation and plan in the efforts to divide this country. His "profession" as a community organizer gave him the skills to collectively divide and on that note, I believe he succeeded.

In the private sector, he and Michelle are good people, good parents and very likeable.

When you are school employee you understand that how you conduct yourself in public will be judged. But more than that, just like students can have school level consequences for their behavior at a school sponsored event, school employees have the same expectation. Beyond being stupid (whether it is her right to hold an opinion or not) I can't imagine texting something like that.  I wonder if there is more to the story (there usually is) and words were exchanged between the spectators. otherwise, how would anyone know who the person texting even was, let alone know that she was a faculty member. But as a faculty member, you know that you are responsible for teaching students of all races, etc.  So, mouthing off whether in person or in any other way visible to someone else that would indicate that you may have issues with people of another race is ignorant.  How would a parent of a child in her class that happened to be of the race she is tired of participating in a district event feel? I would wonder if she was also sick of my child based on something beyond their control. 4951

I'm guessing we'll be seeing a lawsuit also. Be foolish not to. School system settles, the rest of us pay more taxes. 4951
