So with the announcement yesterday of Carrier staying in the USA kind of ironic that I got an email from them 30 mins later that starting Jan 1 prices are going up 5 percent across the board. I have never seen anything higher than 3 percent in the last 20 years. IMHO Its a good product so it's worth it but the consumer is definately going to feel it when their AC goes out next summer.

@SwaggyG: I agree with you - it's worth the extra money for a good product (especially HVAC in our climate!).  Generally, though, I buy made in the US for most things that I can, unless it's something I plan to throw away soon anyway.  I don't mind paying considerably more, especially since quality is generally better.  Cars are a little bit of a different story as they are manufactured everywhere, or their parts are, anyway.

Why can't people say something positive about Trump keeping jobs in the United States?

It is like people are upset that we aren't sending jobs to Mexico. I can't understand this! 4951

I read a thousand and my guess another thousand supported by keeping those jobs and salaries in this country. Alternatively it could be most of those people on unemployment, welfare, food stamps, public housing, free phones, free medical, etc.

Take your pick, choose wisely. 4951

People, yes the headlines say how many jobs he saved.....what about those at Carrier that are going to be cut anyhow?  Bribe companies to stay in the US.  When is the big rush going to start for more companies to get on the Trump tax dole. 4951

I'm a liberal, and happily pay more for made in the USA products. I've stopped purchasing products that I love when the jobs to produce them left the country. Why some on here have to continually try to demean and demoralize those who don't share their political views, is what I don't understand. ABC World News, 5:30pm has been running a segment on American companies keeping jobs in America, how about watching it, and trying to make sure you invest in American jobs by supporting these companies when you can? 4951

@SwaggyG:

Consumers will still have other brand options if they prefer to pay less for other brands. Isn't that the same "dilemma" we deal with on every consumer product?

Currently, China, Mexico, India and a few others have products produced in their nation that have earned the "cheap" label. "Made in Mexico" and "Made in China" typically signals you're going to pay less for a lower quality product. Is that really what we want to compete with? Why not be proud of products that make "Made in the USA" stand for quality? There is a significant consumer group that is willing to pay a higher price for quality.
