Well, without giving away too much, let me just say I'm old enough to qualify for medicare, lol. I also have no problem proudly accepting my years and I am proud to have come of age along with the Beatles, college protests, peace and love..you get the picture.  But on most days I feel I have more in common with people about 20 -30 years younger than I am.  An example tonight - My husband was showing me a brochure for a trip.  I told him "Gee, this looks like a cruise for senior citizens.  Look at the pictures, they are all old people on this trip.   Would we have much in common with our fellow travelers? "  He looked at me and said "Sweetie..I'm going to break it to you gently...we are old people too. "   Haha.  I still feel a "30 something" most of the time. Emoticon 4951

I went on a 60s music themed cruise earlier this year and was surprised at how many "younger" people there were. My friends and I were commenting on how bland the food was. When we asked the head chef, he said the figured the clientele would be older and didn't like spicy foods! Spicier the better, I say. 4951

I'm not sure if it's denial or just being happy and having a positive outlook on life. 4951

I wouldn't say denial, but when people talk about middle aged people, I automatically think of them as older than me. I am wrong.I also think of 1995 as a few years ago, not 20 years ago. 4951

Do you ever wake up in the morning, go into the bathroom, look in the mirror and say "MOM?" 4951

I'm 40-something and I listen to a lot of bands that 20-somethings listen to. I also play in a band, which definitely keeps me feeling younger. And I have a couple of 5-year olds that keep me on my toes 24/7. So I don't really feel like I'm 40-something. When I was younger, I used to think that 40 was SO OLD....LOL....Agree with ForeCPA90. The 90's seem like they were just a few years ago. Feels like just yesterday I was in college drinking, smoking, partying, wearing flannel and listening to Nirvana, Soundgarden, RATM, Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam CDs. But that was 2 decades ago.....  4951

Some days my muscles & bones feel 90 years old - other days I'm bounding with energy. I do not have the strength & stamina I had in my 40s or 50s, but I still can still do many things just slower & needing extra help now. BUT - my brain & inner self feels about 35-40 years old. I do not feel  67 years old and thankfully don't look elderly (so I'm told anyway).  I get perturbed at the media when they speak of a crime victim & call them elderly & then say the age as 61, 65, etc....I'M NOT ELDERLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!  But, when I was a home care nurse, I had many patients in the late 50s on up who easily could be considered 'elderly'! Their health had declined severely and that made me sad - I was older & more active than them. Just made me sad. 4951

I am somewhere between 40 and death.  Who said that? Vera, Auntie Mame's friend.Every day is a blessing for me.  I intend to reach my father's age---95!  Mom was 88.I have lived longer than my siblings too.  As my dad always said "Age is a state of mind".It also pays to avoid those old friends where every conversation sounds like dinner talk at a retirement community.  Think young, act young.  I also pays to have six younger and stronger friends to carry you on your last journey to the graveyard.
