So excited! My mom's wedding dress came in the mail yesterday. We are Christening our little girl in October and I had asked my mom if I could have her wedding dress to make into a Christening gown for our daughter. Luckily she had it preserved back in 1974 after her and my dad got married and it is in great shape (besides smelling like some kind of chemical/oldness). I'll have to get it professionally cleaned once the Christening gown is completed, figured its not worth paying to clean the whole wedding dress if I am only going to take it apart. I plan to make a practice gown first from regular lace from the fabric store so that I make sure I work out any kinks in the pattern before I go cutting up her wedding dress! We are both so excited about it, she cried when I asked her if I could do this so I am really excited to make it and have her see it on my daughter come October. I'll try to take some photos of the original wedding dress (I already removed a set of decorative buttons so I could see the seam lines, but I'll tack them back on) and then the Christening gown when I am done with it.Â
