As a working man I have to admit I love a good pedicure. The works pedicure:

I'm talking parafin boots, hot towels, the awesome massage chairs and hands on calf massages above the normal nail treatments.

I've recently discovered this and am completely cool going by myself to a salon. Problem: can't get any of my friends to join me.

The same put offs...that's either "gay, girly etc."

What's with the stigma?

My callouses are hard earned in the field but ****** feels just as nice to be pampered.

For the record I'm the last person youd ever expect to say this based on appearance. Six ft., 230 lbs, razor shaved head with goatee. I look much more like one that would chew on nails for dinner than go to a salon but I truly love it.

@TXtransplant: Nothing at all wrong with it. When I go for a pedi, there are at least 1-2 men in the place, getting the same pedi's, minus the nail polish. It's no different than getting a massage. Just don't count on getting other guys to go with you. Take your wife, GF, or just go alone.

My husband refused for years to do this until we went on our vacation to beach this past year. Now he loves it. He doesn't get any colors just the foot soak hot towels & his feet cleaned up. My daughter & I went the other day w out him. He got mad lol. Nothing wrong w having nice toes & it feels so good to him standing in his feet all the time. He had bad athletes foot not anymore. We soak at home w eucalyptus salt. That helps a lot. 4951

I got my H to go! He loves it...but doesn't quite admit to it, being a mans man and all. But, He falls asleep in the chair while they work on his fugly toes. He has horrible feet. He has also gone and had his back waxed several times. The girls in the salon love him and always ask where he is when he's not with me! Enjoy dude! Your buds don't know what they are missing. Maybe if the salons had a man's day only, it would be a way to coax your friends. Tell them they are wussies! Emoticon 4951

Guys going together looks a little weird. I go, but mostly prepping for Fall mountain trips. Really don't care either way on the mani, but, ya know...since I'm there.... 4951

My hubs grumbled for years that it was not ok. Then one year on vacation I begged him to come with me to the spa. He finally broke down and agreed. Once the ladies who worked there told him men go all the time he was ok with it. He won't go on his own, but will go with me. Works out good because now he's like hey let's pick up a coffee and get a pedicure. 4951

Someday....someday.

Btw....if you have sensitive feet you can tell them and they will be gentle.

There...now you have no excuses. 4951

I gave in and finally went in to have it done  before going on a cruise.  You see all sorts of men's feet that  could use some attention.I do it out of utter necessity because with two knee replacements it is next to impossible to reach my feet.  My loving mate would do it, but that is too much to ask.One downside I picked up a nail fungus on one toe---from the gym or salon? 4951

@calguy:

I'm salon picky. If they cut my big toenail on the side too short I get an ingrown.

I've tried five or six places now locally....really like Cindi Nails on the 59 feeder adjacent to Union Kitchen. 4951

It's just part of basic grooming, unless you want to look like a caveman. Think of it as medically necessary for healthy feet. Last time I wa t a very manly-man was there with his wife and daughter. They went on to get manicures and he went next door to Verizon. 4951

@donnatella: So some people don't clip their toenails?  I've been clipping mine since I was about six.  My feet are clean and healthy, so I don't see the need to pay someone else to clip my nails.  I guess I am old school, and cheap.  The only time I have any issues is if I get a runner's nail from running, in which case I just keep it clipped until it falls off.
