so a friend complained for two weeks to her dentist about one of her back teeth hurting but would just give her pain meds and send her home but now she has serious infection which has made her head look like she is deformed . here's the thing the dentist finally took my friend in after the infection and the pain were unbearable SO she went in there and yanked the tooth out while she had an infection . she is now in the emergency room undergoing heavy dosages of antibiotics the fear is the infection has entered the blood stream....has anybody gone through this before ? thanks 4951

OOP's...  from what I know that is not acceptable,  Time to find a new dentist... Depending on how far along and how much infection there was, IV antibiotics should knock it out.   Teeth cause swelling pretty quickly since they are so close to the surface.

@princecharming:

A little late to back track and find a new dentist. Make sure she files a complaint with texas dental board. They wont do anything but fine him during investigations so maybe atleast he loses a little money...probably not.

Ontop of massive antibiotics she needs to be rinsing daily with thieves and using clove oil diluted with coconut oil(only high grade ingestable)on her gums. If it entered the blood stream they are doing what needs to be done. Heavy antibiotics.

Shame on that (fill in the blank) dentist. Tell her in the future to go see dr sikes with downtown dental or scott jones with jones family denistry. Both are in cleveland.

Now to everyone else. I know this sounds harsh but please stop using these criminal dentist and drs just because your insurance covers it. Pay oop or out of network prices if you have to, but your life is not worth these drs in a box. If everyone would stop using them the insurances would be forced to cover the good ones.

And the extra drive to the good ones wont kill you either. Im so sad to see so many people hurting at the hands of these neglegent money hungry 🚑 professionals. Just makes my skin crawl.

I was able to sit on an infection myself for about 6-8 months with an abscess tooth by taking daily antibiotic until my insurance kicked in. It sounds like the dentist downplayed an infection if he only gave her pain meds but it sounds pretty severe if it just sprouted in the last couple weeks so I'm not entirely sure it's on the dentist, if anything he took the infected tooth out not causing anymore damage but it seems in your friends case an infection came upon him or her pretty quick. 4951

@JerryJustice:

If he pulled it while infected without having her on antibiotics it can enter the blood stream immidiatly through the wound when he pulled it. He gave her pain meds that suppress the immune system instead of antibiotics. Smdh

No Im not a medical professional but I do have a brain. Pulling an infected tooth without proper precare is stupid stupid stupid.

One of my wisdom teeth became impacted and infected.  Dentist put in tube? For drainage and gave me an antibiotic.  He said had to wait for infection to clear up before doing anything. The tooth was still below surface... 4951

If any type of x-ray was taken during a recent exam there might have been an indication of an infection at the root of the tooth.  A root canal would probably have cleared it up.  I just had a root canal [not cheap] and a crown replaced l[$1,181.00].   It's hard to get good economical dental insurance.  Yes, beware of these low cost production line dental providers.  See the adds and they have seven or eight positions working at once.  How experienced are these people?  Yes, they have to be licensed but no requirements for experience.Antibiotics----I took three Amocicillin 500MG a day for eight days after my root canal before the crown replacement was even started.  Screwed up the good bacteria in my digestion system an intake of yogurt got me back on track. 4951

@Burnsway: Except antibiotics don't entirely wipe out an infection, it only keeps it at bay. I had to get my first prescription from another local dentist rather than my own because of him being out of town and I had him and my regular dentist tell me this. I just recently watched a video on this as well where the dentist in the middle of procedure is pushing out pus from the fistula, which is the hole that forms naturally in your gums to release the infection.

I had one bad enough he didnt want to wait but he gave me a shot of antibiotics just before he started and a script for some heavy duty ones immidiatly after. It was considered high risk and he called twice the first 24 hours to check on me and also called pharmacy to make sure I filled the script.

Its better than nothing. Personally I use holistic means on top of traditional means when dealing with blood infections. Give it all you got ...PLUS...lol

The usual cause of a tooth infection is food getting caught in a recess in your teeth. Hydrogen peroxide will get rid of the food particles. 4951

Just no! The tube I had put in for the release of what you just shown I never looked at. Just hoped it worked (it did). I love a good horror movie, just not in me mouth! 4951
