collecting boxes & buying tape , never have enough of either one . Last night we packed boxes till 9:30 & only stopped cause we ran out of boxes & tape . Where & when did we collect all of this "stuff " ? The realtor told us to pack all our "personal " stuff  & nick-knacks so anyone touring the house could imagine their stuff in the house instead of seeing all of our stuff . Open house is Saturday so we are packing everything , the problem is we have no place to put the boxes once they are packed , so we are just lining the wall with them , not very attractive . It would be nice if we could move all our stuff to the new house as we packed it  , but  the new house will not be emptied out till 14 days after closing ...sigh . I'm loosing sleep & not in the best of moods , but I keep thinking it is only for 6 or so weeks & then we will be in the new house & getting settled in . The good news is our oldest daughter  has found a house just 20 minutes away from where we will be moving & has put in an offer on it  . Hopefully it will also be accepted & she will be moving closer to us . Her wedding is scheduled for September 17th , so on top of moving we are involved in the wedding ...sigh . This is why parents get grey hair (LOL).Hubby says this is just another chapter in our lives.....if he's writing a book he can leave these 2 chapters out (LOL). Got to go to the stores & get more boxes & tape ...until later ...have a Blessed day . 4951

@WJo: Congrats on the new house - you might look into a storage unit in your area for a couple of weeks to put your boxes until you can move.  I've done that a couple times here and it wasn't too expensive.  It stinks to move stuff twice, but sometimes that's what you have to do.  Good luck.

@bubbleyes72.....Hubby wants to have an additional 3 car garage built & our city government says we do not have enough room with our in ground pool to put a 3 car garage . So a year ago we started looking for more property with a nice house to fit all our "stuff" .  We looked in Ohio & Kentucky , but never found what we wanted so our grand daughter purchased a house last Jan. in Indiana & loves the area , so we decided to look there & saw 4 houses with the 4th one having what we were looking for . 3.14 acres of land a 4 bedroom house with a basement . It also has  several fruit trees & 3 different kinds of nut trees . The property backs up to a ravine & woods so lots of privacy , on one side is an orchard & on the other side is an empty house that is in an estate. Our closest neighbor is about a mile away & he owns the orchard . Hubby will have more than enough room to build his garage & retire happy & that's what life is all about ...happiness ...right ? 4951

@buffaloglenn...we did that once many years ago & it was not fun moving things twice . It's easier to put the packed boxes into the garage & park the cars in the driveway . Our realtor said that was the best thing to do because a garage is just a garage , it's the house people want to see the condition of & it always looks better when it is staged with furniture rather than bare walls. But thanks for the tip . Have a blessed day . 4951

I actually swept out the garage, measured and taped out space for cars, and tried to stack my boxes in those spaces to show that cars would fit as well. Can't say it worked, because we decided not to move and took the house off the market, but it made me feel better about people looking in the garage. 4951

Dude invest in Rubbermaid totes. So much better than cardboard boxes and about a wash on price once you add in the tape. Plus they are reusable! 4951

@WJo
I feel your moving pain. Last year at this time we had the movers in KW packing our stuff for our move to Canada. Now we are doing the whole moving thing AGAIN, this time to Australia.
Moving and packing is a pain!
Good luck on the next chapter of your life! 4951

@Puzzles....I like to look at moving like an adventure , I get to meet new people that will become new friends & I get to explore new areas & shop in new places . Find new restaurants to eat in & new places to have fun . So in the end it all works out for the best . Hubby & I have always wanted to visit "down under" hope you enjoy your time there & have lots of good stories to share with us . Good Luck & I expect you to tell us that you have fallen in love with Australia . 4951

@Fallon...Nope , the new house is in Indiana , about an hour & a half  drive from this house . Out in the country & our nearest neighbor is about a mile up the road , so lots of privacy for us . We saw wild turkey's & deer while we were there last week , the entire back of the property is woods & drops into a ravine . There is about 1- 1/2 acres that is cleared & that's where the house sits , so we will not have to take care of the entire 3.14 acres , just the front 1-1/2 acres . Once hubby has the 3 car garage built there won't be that much land to take care of at all . We are looking forward to the quieter laid back life style of country living  when hubby retires in a year . 4951

When I sold my KW home the closing came so fast. ...I listed, contracted and accepted after being only three days live.

I had six weeks following and it went so fast.

I was so scrambling at the last minute.
