Thanks to the hard work by Precinct 4 Deputies and very helpful citizens, the Precinct 4 Constable's Office identified the wreath thief in Eagle Springs. Charges have been filed and the property has been recovered and returned to the homeowner. -Lt. Jonathan Zitzmann

Could you imagine having to tell your family you were in jail because you stole the decor off someone's front porch?!?!

Glad they got their belongings back and I hope that woman gets the help she clearly needs. 4951

Thank you officer, nice to know some of this stuff gets followed up on. IT seems that the public perception is that it is not for the most part. I always wonder if people caught on home security systems ever get caught, even with that strong of evidence. Apparently they do!! 4951

I just hope a drunk didn't get away with driving while they were tracking down a wreath thief.  Heck they could have just gone to the flea market and got hundreds of those wreaths.Maybe we need to look at our priorities on what we expect our officers to do.Their job is hard and stressful - is a wreath really worth their time?

@Stealth83: trespassing and theft aren't worthy of a police officers time? Yes, there may be bigger and more dangerous crimes but still..

Besides, these petty crimes add revenue to the city, I'd think you would be all for that.

@Stealth83: I imagine they are quite capable of catching both the thief and the drunk. 4951

I would buy her a wreath if it got me somewhere. No reason going to jail over a wreath.

Now if the constables found the punks spraying graffiti all over the place I would be very happy. 4951

I can rest easy now they got this savage off the streets lol while I get this is still a crime albeit a small one maybe if we band together a little more we can help catch a lot more serious crimes that go on in the area 4951

The cops didn't do anything to catch the lady.

KPRC playing the video on the news led to someone recognizing her and turning her in.

It's not like the cops wasted countless man hours searching high and low for the wreath theif.

The cops don't look for stolen property. They just take a report over the phone. They don't even want to come out to your house to make the report anymore.

The only way you get your property back is if it falls into the cops laps. 4951
